I was looking for a version of War and Peace and about to settle for
the 1968 version by Ann Dunnigan when this new Anthony Briggs Penguin
version came by. I haven't had the chance to browse through it. Has
anyone done so, and how is it? Is it better than all before? Can one
give a short excerpt of the start, for instance?

Pevear and wife will have some competition. Their version is scheduled
for 2007, and who would have expected someone to supercede them? I am
not enamored of their Anna Karenina though - overpraised in my view,
and lacking in Tolstoy's famous robust, if slightly awkward style.
