FOURTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COMMISSIONERS OF FISHERIES, GAME AND FORESTS OF THE
STATE OF NEW YORK Albany, New York: State of New York, 1899. Very Good. This
gorgeous antique hardcover book has a deep red cloth cover with embossed
lettering, three-color embossed illustration. Cover printing is slightly worn,
but not soiled. While the text of this book is perhaps not extraordinary,
consisting of reports made to the legislature of New York State on the status
of the state's wildlife, it is the illustrations that make this volume stand
out. The book has over one hundred illustrations, many of which are full-page
color images of birds, fish and other wildlife,some by Denton, captioned and
printed on fine glossy white paper which shows little if any sign of its
advanced age. Besides these lovely images, there are numerous black-and-white
photographs, both full- and half-page, and smaller drawings as well. A really
fine publication which has stood the test of time admirably. Total of 8 color
fish illustrations by Denton. 444 pages total; approx. 9"x12". Bookseller
