Lloyd Goodrich EDWARD HOPPER Harry N. Abrams, 1978, First Edition A
mammoth book (13" tall X 16 1/2" wide) with 306 pages, indexed. A "grand

M. Seidel and R.H. Marijnissen BRUEGEL G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1971, First

text covering the life and background of the artist as well as the oeuvre,
a catalog of paintings reflecting the latest scholarly thought, a detailed
chronology of Bruegel's life, and reproductions of the paintings that can
hardly be excelled. 10 1/2" X 12", green hardcover, with decorative

Will Grohmann PAUL KLEE Harry N. Abrams, Inc., Publishers, FIRST EDITION
(1955?) The most comprehensive biography of Paul Klee. Klee planned this
book with Will Grohmann, his friend of many years, and he willingly
entrusted the monumental task of documenting his life and work, lending
fullest cooperation to the project from its inception in 1936, until he
died four years later. Klee himself supervised the selection of the more
than 430 black and white illustrations and the 40 tipped in color plates
included in this book. He especially created the poem painting for the
dust jacket as well as the line drawing on the cover, both which make this
especially valuable for the collector. This particular volume is in fine
condition, with nice sharp corners on the black hardcovers, with white
imprint of the special line drawing embossed. 448 pages indexed, nice gray
speckled end papers, pages very clean and bright, with brilliant color in
the tipped in plates. The special dust jacket is also fine, with only the
slightest hint of wrinkling at the bottom near the spine. This is a
wonderful book. Not to get so gushy, but it's by one of my favorate
artists: his work is fun, free, and flowing. Those who appreciate Klee's
work and playful spirit will appreciate the art reflected within this
book, and in the design of this book itself. $110.00
