x 5", Framed. woman cuddles ugly pet dog, saying "oh you". man leans
disgruntled against mantle piece looking on. Dorgan, a Chicago
newspaper cartoonist was known for his dogs, as above.

32Pp.] + 16 FP chromos. Drawings and humorous poetry, animals often in
human clothes. Very successful American originals. Howard did many
juveniles for McL., all rare enough that few are in Hamilton. Slightly
bowed, boards a little stained and worn but Good.

make clear that several excerpts from the jungle book were available.

8. Kvitko, L.: Bertchik [a dog's name] Tsentralfarlog, Moscow, 1927.
8vo, 14Pp., VG. pictorial title page, every page consisting of text
with 1/2 page of doggy illustrations. The style is intense, modernist
and expressionist, influenced by folk art, as in the russian
lubok[broadside]. the illustrator signs his initials Yod Dalath [I.
D.]. The best soviet, yiddish dog book, and a fine modernist charmer.

juvenile, written and illustrated by the artist-author, a Russian
emigr'e in Paris, before his work for the Domino Press or his long
career in the U.S. About a fox terrier with FP and vignette
lithographed illustrations on nearly every page. $600.00
