d'Architecure ancienne maison Morel, Ch. Eggimann, successeur. 60 beautiful
hand-painted water color plates [7" x 9 1/2"] mounted on mattes [11 3/4' X 16
1/4"]. Includes 23 pages of French text describing each drawing. These prints
show both the peasant garb of the 17th and 18th centuries and that of the
elegant gentry -- including indoor and outdoor scenes of the "rich and
famous," sporting and country hunting scenes, military uniforms and
horsemanship, architecture, etc. All 60 of these prints are outstanding works
of art, hand-painted in vivid and vibrant water colors. They are mounted on
heavy stock. Due to its age the outer folio covers show wear. Nevertheless,
all of the prints and text housed within appear to be in very fine condition.
Still, one print was creased and repaired with tape near the very top corner
of the page but touches only 1/4 inch of the very tip of the print itself.
There is slight foxing to the edges of 3 pictures and foxing to one picture
itself. Also, there is some chipping to the very outer edges of some mattes of
some pages. The mounting paper is a light cream tint and the actual
hand-painted colored plates are exceptionally clear and striking.
