(Woman Novelist/Civil War association) Davis, Varina Anne Jefferson. THE
VEILED DOCTOR. (NY, 1895) Cloth. Fair/Good (cover wear, soil,
especially to spine; foxing to front endpaper; hinge bit tender). The
author was the daughter of Jefferson Davis, former President of the
Confederacy during the Civil War. This is one of the two scarce novels
she wrote before her premature death in 1898. $35
