NY: The Century Co, 1905, six volumes bound as one. Dark Green
embossed cloth hardcover, 6.5 x 10 inches, 969 pages plus Index.
Profusely illustrated by numerous artists (Maxfield Parrish, Harrison
Fisher, Arthur Keller, Alphonse Mucha, Winslow Homer et. Al.), some in
full color. 5 etchings of New Your Skyscrapers by Joseph Pennell.
Articles on many topics including Chicago Park Service and A
Diplomat’s View of Russia, A Chat About the Hand’ by Helen Keller with
many photographs, some fiction including the first installment of Rose
O’ the River by Kate Douglas Wiggin, which concludes in the other 1905
edition I have for sale this week. Book is in Fair condition, both
hinges cracked and loose, but not detached, covers spotted, ends of
spine missing, some foxing but not very prevalent, edges and endpapers
yellowed. Even though the binding is a bit loose, most pages are
clean, some slightly yellowed and because of the good quality of the
paper, you are not afraid to read it. Small water-stain to lower
corner of some pages, not going into text and not on most pages.

Green embossed cloth, 6.5 x 7 inches, 962 pages, profusely illustrated
in color and B&W. Color illustrations include a full page color
illustration titled "The Sandman" by Maxfield Parrish (frontispiece to
the October 1905 issue); a special feature "Glimpses of the Summer
Girl’, with Four Drawings by Howard Chandler Christy with 3 full page
color illustrations and 1 full page black and white illustration;
several color and b/w illustrations by Jules Guerin of French
chateaux, article with illustrations "Alpine Climbing in Automobiles".
Arthur Keller, 7 photographs of British authors with signatures, "The
New Naval Academy", etc. Includes the conclusion of "Rose O’ the
River" by Kate Douglas Wiggin, which began in the 1904-1905 edition I
have for sale this week. In Poor condition, both hinges loose (not
detached), ends of spine worn and tattered, covers spotted, corners
worn through to boards. Most pages clean, some foxed, others yellowed,
some water-stain to early and late pages, none into text. Many loose
signatures, but paper is strong and could be rebound, in my opinion. I
detect only one page missing, the last page of the Index.

embossed cloth, 6.5 x 10 inches, 960 pages plus Index, profusely
illustrated. Anna Alice Chapin, "Trying a Dramatist" by William S.
Gilbert, Remington Schulyer, Anton Fisher, "The First Poet" by Jack
London, Arthur Rackham, Includes rare condition color lithograph of
the Parrish mural From the house of James J. Storrow, and Paul
Bransom's Three Macaws. Noyes, Stringer, Gilbert, and John Muir's
THREE ADVENTURES IN YOSEMITE, "The ‘Proposed’ Lincoln Memorial", etc.
Book is in Good condition, front hinge loose but no splitting, rear
hinge split but not detached, no markings, first 7 pages have missing
area at top, none into lettering, water-stain to lower corners of
first endpaper to page 18, going only into a tiny bit of text. Odd
spatter stain on first free endpaper. Some damp-stain to open edge
appearing occasionally, rarely into any text. Some yellowed pages.
Binding of text is quite tight and you are definitely not afraid to
read it!

cloth covers, 6.5 x 10 inches, 962 pages, profusely illustrated.
Illustrators include F. C. Yohn, Arthur Keller, Joseph Pennell (7
lithographs of the building of the Panama Canal), Paul Branson
(Toilers in their Traces-Horses.) Articles on many topics "Germany as
a Sea Power" by Beehler, "Safety at Sea in Light of the Titanic
Disaster", "Socialism and its Menace as seen by President Taft", etc.
Fiction by Irving Bacheller "Keeping Up with Dan’l Webster", John
Galsworthy "Magpie Over the Hill", etc. Book is in Good condition,
covers flecked, some edge wear, no markings, pages mostly clean, some
yellowed, and quite tight. About 25% of the pages have a small water
stain to the upper corner, not into any text, first endpaper has some
staining.. One of the better copies of this hard-to-find title.

embossed cloth covers, 6.5 x 10 inches, 962 pages, profusely
illustrated. After the {Civil) War Series (Greeley Campaign, Johnson's
Impeachment, Alaska Territory, Alabama Claims) ; Christmas (Fete In
California, Emmy Jane's) ; Color frontis by Rackham; drawings by
Oliver Herford, also an N. C. Wyeth, Frank Stockton, Bret Harte,
Abraham Lincoln boyhood and assassination, horses - saddle and
thoroughbred, world paper trade, woman's suffrage. This issue has art
by Joseph Pennell;; Frank Brangwyn; F. V. DuMond and many others.
Articles and fictions by Frank R. Stockton; Booker T. Washington;
Jacob A. Riis; Vida Scudder and William Lyon Phelps. Book is in Good-
condition, covers have little shelf wear, but very flecked, one area
whitened. Hinges seem a bit loose, but not cracked, pages quite tight
and clean, some yellowed, small water-stain to upper corner of first
50 pages. One article torn out- Red chalk drawings by Violet Oakley. A
scarce title.

including "The United States of Base-Ball" and "Breaking Horses with
Kindness." (so much for the modern Horse Whisperers!) Book is in Good+
condition, slight shelf-wear to corners, spine has a vertical rub and
some spotting, lower end of spine missing a chunk, not into lettering.
