Ralph Steadman
Meeting Ralph Steadman and his charming wife, Anna, here in Lexington,
Kentucky, in July 1994, was a real treat. It has become apparent that the
work of this prolific satirical illustrator deserves more attention in
America (he is well-known in the U.K., of course). Many Americans are
familiar primarily with Steadman's collaborations with Hunter Thompson.
In addition, we presently have a Ralph Steadman Bibliography project under
way. Inquiries welcome.

The first of Steadman's three "Alice" illustrated books. White boards
printed black at both covers and spine, including floral Art Nouveau
design. B&W illustrations by Steadman, including full page and double

A scathing satire on the Irish, originally written in Gaelic by O'Brien
(1911-1966), who has been called the "misanthrope's misanthrope" and is
recognized as a powerful comic novelist. Translation of An beal bocht
(first published Dublin, Dolmen Press, 1941). Not widely known in America
for its Steadman illustrations.

300. Artistic collaboration between Ralph Steadman and Joe Petro III, July
1994. Adaptation of Steadman's renowned cover / frontispiece
illustrations from Hunter Thompson's notorious 1971 book, Fear and
Loathing in Las Vegas. Design created by Steadman, based on the original
illustrations, and fearlessly enhanced / splattered. Silkscreens
individually hand-pulled on high quality, 100% cotton white artist's paper
by Lexington, Kentucky artist Joe Petro III. Printed in an edition of 77
impressions, each numbered and boldly signed by Ralph Steadman. Five
colors: Sky Blue, Desert Sand, Liquid Graphite (Black), Purple, and
Scarlet Red. Dimensions: 40" high by 26" wide. Steadman has never done
a print of this image before, and will never do one again. A significant
cultural icon of twentieth-century art. Price each impression, net:

of this HST interview of the Olympic ski champion from France.
Special feature: Eighteen-page spread on Altamont, the grotesque rock
concert orgy (December 6, 1969) in northern California which resulted in
four dead, hundreds wounded or tripped-out on drugs.
Bonus: Two small illustrations by Steadman. Extremely uncommon.
