1.Cover of Woman's Home Companion, May 1927.This is an incredibly
beautiful cover. In the
center of it, there is an Art Deco Steamer. You see the prow which is a
dark bluish grey.It is in
the middle of the page.The water is laid out in a grid of geometrics,
triangles and squares in
green and blue colors.The shoreline is black. There are four little black
tug boats which bring the
ship out into the bay. Underneath the ship, there is a strip of deco blue
and lavendar and green
and white swirls; looks like a piece of wallpaper.To the right are arms,
hats, heads, scarves in
pinks and light blues which are people waving as steamer departs.Oh, and
did I mention, the
background of pink and lavendar, mauve art deco NY. Looks like the
Chrysler Building on the
right (if it had been built before 1927).On the top is Woman's Home
Companion with Your Way
and Mine, F.Scott Fitzgerald in a blue box with pink lettering, and a
little box on left bottom, also
blue with pink letters, that says, May 1927, 10 Cents. The cover is 10
1/2 x 14". $50
2. From Woman's Home Companion 1908 The Fashion Department, Conducted by
Grace
Margaret Gould.This is a fashion illustration that was reproduced for
Woman's Home
Companion. Probably done in gouache, watercolor and pen and ink.It's a
drawing 11 1/2" high of
a woman in a green long suit. The blouse and the cuffs match. The woman,
who has a classical
face, with upswept hair is wearing a large hat with matching plume on her
hat. The text
underneath explains that the jacket the model is wearing is No. 1199-
Directoire Coat and gives
the pattern specifications and No. 1200 is the Circular Skirt-Box Plaits
Back and Front; send for
patterns. There is a little box on the bottom that says you can order
each pattern for 10 cents and
gives the Woman's Home Companion pattern department address. 13 1/2" x
19",matted in
maroon, ready to frame. $40
3.Another fashion illustration from 1914.This was reproduced in The
Designer ,April.There are
four women, each figure is at least 10" tall. The women are posed and
smiling; the colors are
pinks and grays with little touches of red. All the ladies are posing in
the newest Spring
streetwear for this time; they're all wearing hats. The shoes are sort of
pointy.Under each figure
is the pattern being described with specifications. A double Peplum and a
novel Side Tunic for
street wear. The smart Back Drapery, chic Short Coat and Vest, the Cowboy
Collar and Sleeves
of contrating material are Spring Innovations. 13 1/4 x 18 1/2", matted
in white. Ready to

4. This print by Will Hammel is a beauty.It is called Rain.A beautiful
dark haired woman is
standing on a light green hill with her umbrella upside down on the
ground.She has her arms
out to feel the diagonal lines of silver which is the rain, purple and
white clouds in
background.You can see that it is windy because her sash is waving in the
wind .Her frock is blue
and yellow with a white gauzy overdress. Her hair, the umbrella and her
belt are all black. The
sky is light blue and there are some rain clouds near the bottom of the
print. They are dark
lavendar, lavendar and white on the top.There is a 1/2" light orange
margin all around the print.
The woman has a slight smile on her face; she has been caught in the rain
but is finding it an
exhilarating experience.13 1/4" x 18 1/2" matted in grey. Ready to frame.

5.J. Knowles Hare was an American artist who is listed in Susan Theran's
Fine Art Identification
and Price Guide, 1992. (1884-1947).This11 x 16" Hare cover is from The
People's Home
Journal, Sept. 1919.This is a head and shoulders portrait of a woman ,
looking directly at you,
her hand is on her jet necklace. She's wearing a hat with jet on it also.
She has big hazel eyes,
has a cupid's bow mouth, looks like a flapper. The colors are flesh
tones, red and black. The
background is white. The People's Home Journal is on the top of the page
in 1" black letters.To

romantic.It depicts a
woman with straw hat, she has an engagement ring on her left finger;there
is dogwood almost all
over, she is carrying a letter , obviously a love letter and looking up

.This is a Gibson Girl type with big hat, color sketch by
Waber-Ditz-Lea.She has a heart shaped
