1. Friendship Book of Julia L. Beecher In "The Album" R.Hunt & Co.,
Middletown Con. (Sic.) Dates from Jan. 1827-Sept. 1833. 8vo. Mbld.
Bds., tooled calf back, gilt Dec. leather book label with her name.
Inter alia, contains 5 decorative floral and emblematic water color
vignettes in folk style. $350.00

2.Friendship Book of Julia E. Nichols of Bridgeport Conn. Eatonville
Seminary. 1833-6. 8vo. Dec. calf. Her fellow students wrote verses +
12 prefaced their entries with very fine folk watercolors, 8 flowers
or flowers & birds, 2 landscapes, one FP watercolor of a branch of
apples, one of flowers, VG. $1000.00

3. Friendship Book of Eleanor G. O'Connell, San Francisco, 1883. Large
8vo, w/excellent FP watercolor of Kings River, Tulare County, Ca.
probably by "Papa", another, more childish is a view of Lake Tahoe.
binding worn, contents fine. $150.00

4.. Friendship Book of Addie M. Upson, Waterbury CT., 1883-1888. 4" x
6 3/4". complex decorative Victorian calf binding, spine rubbed and
with small tear. Penned monogram in 3 colors, also includes varieties
of penmanship, a calligraphic bird, a water colored flower, some
joking placements of letters and a fine emblematic sentiment, in pen
which includes a bird with a scroll and a cat. A number of the signers
merely decorate their words with an inserted Chromolithographed cut
out. $50.00

5. Laughton, John O.: Friendship Book of Lydia O. Wiley, Hartford Ct.
In: the floral album, NY, J.C. Riker, 1841. 8vo, 29pp., 22 manuscript
poems, an acrostic, 1844-1851. with two Laughton watercolors:"Hartford
from the Connecticut River, August 25, 1844"; "Portrait of an Apple
Picked on Lord's Hill August 15, 1844." He was a Hartford
lithographer, and bookbinder. The binding, with Miss W Wiley's name,
may also be his. Wiley was related to the Hartford printers George T.
and Orlando P. Wiley. Spine flaws, OW VG. $625.00

6. [Germany] Dem Andenken Meine Freunde. Landau, 1817. Friendship
album. red Mro. Bds., green triangular inset, calf Bk., label:
"Stammbuch", Bdg. worn. Beautifully written sentiments, varied
calligraphy, added "remarques", letters forming a square, in poetry
for characterization; + 4 handcolored aquatints show it was printed in
Augsburg + another inserted + two inserted movable plates, one
professional, one not, dealing with romance as do sentiments from both
young men and women: Delightful. $400.00
