She lives in Jamesville, NY (near Syracuse?) with her writer/husband
Harry Mazer ("I Love You, Stupid!").

She won the Newbery Honor Award for "After the Rain."

The only books of hers I remember reading were "I, Trissy" and "Out of
Control" (very well written). Voice of Youth Advocates reviewer Kevin
Kenny: "'Out of Control' is an exemplary exploration of an essentially
random act of violence which by today's jaded standards might be
written off by too many.... This is a work of real strength, a book in
which every character, every facet of plot, suggests credibility and
provokes introspection."

In "I, Trissy," which is about a girl and her parents' divorce, some
might take issue with Mazer's portrait of the mother (even though the
father apparently turns out not to be blameless).

"When We First Met" (about a romance and a drunken-driving death) was
turned into a 1984 HBO movie.
