Children's Books in translation- any collectors?

I collect Alice in Wonderland, in translation (hence my earlier post
about the Bulgarian Alice on eBay - which may have infringed rules a
little - sorry)
I was wondering if anyone else collects Alice or indeed any particular
children's book in different translations. I would be interested to
hear of any such collections.

There's a dealer in Seattle who specializes in Alice. I've seen part of his
amazing collection at a book-show. I can't remember his name unfortunately.
I learnt recently of someone who collects Tove Jansson's Moomin books in
translation and has cover scans up on a website.

have the English translations of some of the "Magic Land" books from

I collect Latin translations of things - really just because my original
university degrees were in Classics and I think it's cool to have them (I'm
looking for Tintin, and just found a Paddington!). I will also buy
translations of certain books if the illustrator is interesting - I covet
the Tove Jansson edition of Alice, for example, and her Hobbit. Her
illustrations for the Hobbit are totally unsuitable, but amazing.

I agree with your assessment of the Hobbit pictures.
I found my collections of author-illustrators Tove Jansson, Mervyn Peake and
some others neatly intersected by virtue of them all doing illustrated
editions of Lewis Carroll's "Hunting of the Snark" (Snarkjakten (spelling?)
in Jansson's case).

Not yet. It's my understanding that "Harrius Potter et Philosophi Lapis"
is coming out later this year. Along with Welsh and Irish Gaelic
translations (but curiously, since J. K. Rowling is Scottish, not Scots
Gaelic).

Some that I'd never heard of! I have the Pooh's, and a Maria Poppina, and
Fabula de Petrus Cuniculus (Peter Rabbit), and Asterix: Falx Aurea, though
not the ones you list. And Paddington is on his way ... There _is_ a
Tintin, possibly two, but I've never actually seen them for sale.

Potter, and the ONLY publisher to print him on recycled paper - lists the

I was looking for something totally unrelated to children's books or
book collecting, when I happened upon this page from a collector who
says he started in 1993 with 2 copies of "The Little Prince", French
and German. His collection now numbers 130. Besides different
languages worldwide, he has also specialized in collecting editions in
different [regional variations/dialects/local languages] within
Europe.
