He lives in Fairhope, Alabama.

I found "Susan and Her Classic Convertible" in the 1980s(?), bound
with plastic with two other books, in a supermarket. Dated, but still
fun.

"When Susan inherits her great-grandfather's 1947 Cadillac, her
efforts to rebuild the engine bring her into contact with people she's
never met before. No one wants her to take auto shop, her former
friends spread rumors when they see her with the boy whose family owns
the junkyard, and her cousin can't get over the feeling that the car
should have been his. A malt-shop teen romance as written by a man."

Far better known by his pen name, W. E. B. Griffin, military novelist.
Aka William Edmund Butterworth, III, W. E. Butterworth, W. Edmund
Butterworth, III, Alex Baldwin, Webb Beech, Walker E. Blake, Walter E.
Blake, James McM. Douglas, Jack Dugan, Eden Hughes, Allison Mitchell,
Edmund O. Scholefield, Patrick J. Williams, John Kevin Dugan, William
E. Butterworth, III, & W. E. Butterworth, III.

He wrote many "M*A*S*H" books with Richard Hooker.

These are just the books under the Butterworth name - not sure which
are juvenile:

It seems his juvenile books tend to be written under the pen names
James McM. Douglas, Edmund O. Scholefield & Patrick J. Williams.

"He divides his time between Fairhope and Buenos Aires, Argentina."
