Let's get one point clarified:

Shojo is "virgin girl."

Shoujo (sho-jo, shoojo) is "young girl."

Actually, you can romanize the word for "young girl" as "shoujo", "shoojo",
or "shojo", depending on the religi--, err, romanization you follow.

And yes, to avoid embarrasing confusion I tend to type it as "shoujo". ^_^;
