Whew! What a blast! I'm sure alot of people are recovering from that one. Who
else here went? Did you see Ippongi Bang in concert? Man, that was... awesome.
I've got autographs from almost all of Studio DoDo and I got a drawing from
Dosa. He was the guy who liked Bad Religion and Pantera and sang (screamed)
real cool at the concert. I asked him if he liked Offspring (I think that's
what I asked him, he seemed confused) and he recognized the name. I ran back to
my room and fished out my CD. I gave it to him as a gift and he seemed pretty
happy to get it. He started to sing "Come Out and Play" and the next day, he
gave me a colored sketched he did. I thanked him royaly. He's pretty cool.
Those of you who went, tell me what you did, saw, bought, etc. What was your
opinion of the con?

recovering... what a concept!

I took Monday off, and I still haven't recovered. Gees... and that is
just physically, I don't even want to think about how long it is going to
take to pay off all of those purchases I made, which amounted to well over
$200.00

Talk about exhaustion. I flew to A-Kon from Oakland through Los
Angeles to Phoenix to Houston to Dallas. I slept for a respectable
portion of the con. Coming back, I got to visit sunny Albuquerque and
Los Angeles again. I still made it to work on Monday morning!

BTW, I ended up spending more money in the bar than on food, airline
tix and in the dealers' room combined. It's kind of a scary
thought...

*Sigh*

Of course this past weekend had to be the one that my newsserver would
choose to die and by the time they got it back up all of the A-Kon
posts have expired.

So did I miss anything (post-wise, I know I missed all kinds of fun at
the con)?

What type of flight schedule is that? I've heard of non-stop flights,
but never an "all-stop". Exactly why did you fly like that?

God, that's where I blew my budget, too. I had been pretty conservative
when it came to the Dealer room, buying mostly manga, no big purchases.
As for food, that was what the Kon Suite was for...nothing but party
snacks and the occasional trip to McDonalds for 3 days. But some people
came up with pretty uh, creative ways to save. There was a rumor that
more than a few people came to the con with no place to stay, sleeping
where ever and taking baths in the hotel pool. Now that's suffering
for anime. Unfortunately, the hotel had to close the pool for the last
day because of it....

We saw at least one person picking up food off of the room service trays
sitting outside the doors. Yuck.

That's why we dubbed it otaku soup.

Only $200? My friend spend over $300 there, most of it in the first day!

If we're constructing a damage list, put me up there at about $500 (ACK!)
Not including hotel and all that beer... :)

A-Kon was really good - except for the roaming vid schedule. All that
switching got to me.. :)

Can't wait till next year!

Ha. Got that beat. How about $400+ spent to, from and at the con, a pair of
now-dead car shock-absorbers and springs (from the Louisiana roads and about
500 lb. too much luggage :-( ), a broken-off car antenna (it fell off
somewhere in Louisiana, musta got jounced by too many bumps) and a
busted car windshield??? (intercepted a BIG rock somewhere in east Texas)?

Not even including the mountain of blank video tape purchased beforehand for
use at the con ^_^;;... Anime- Drugs really WOULD be cheaper, ne? ^_^;;;;

But no worries, I'll be back! *^_^*

Regards,
Gordon.
