Non-bootlegged, commercially produced by A.D.V. Films.

Two episodes [aprox 20 min each?] in original Japanese dialog w/English
subtitles. Includes several ads/"trailers" for other anime productions.

Except for one slightly rumpled "presentation side", original box cover is
otherwise in good shape, as is the tape itself certainly.

$22 US, includes shipping.

(chuckles)

For those of you keeping count, this tape contains EVA episodes 21 & 22.

(awkward silence)

Just thought you'd like to know...

Would that be one of the tapes that I formerly owned? ;-)

The very same.

James finally picked up the dubbed version and gave the subbed version to me
which I'm now trying to sell. Currently I'm advertising it in the local
"free-press" paper.

Except for a very few nits, I otherwise really enjoyed the whole EVA series.
The final episode wasn't, however, what I was expecting... left me hanging.

Heh. :)

As confusing as it is, I prefer the TV series ending to the movie ending.

Heh.. Yeah, that was one of the tapes that I mistakenly grabbed the subbed version instead of the dub.

Yeah, the final episode in the TV series was kind of weak...

The replacement ending, End of Evangelion, is out on DVD now in the states.

You might want to check that out instead...

Lets just say that EoE increased the "freakyness" level of the series up to 11.
(ie, over the top)

It does at least make sense in it's own, twisted way, whereas the TV
ending just came out of nowhere. And EoE is, undoubtedly, a Big
Finish...

You actually prefer the dub over the sub? O_o

The current release is replete with problems though. Manga didn't do a good
job on this one. :(

Indeed.

Actually, back then, when I bought the tapes, I prefered the Dubs.

Now I prefer DVD's, with both dubs and subs.. I'm more partial to subs these days.

They didn't?

Both their releases of Death & Rebirth and End of Evangelion were, in
a word, pathetic.
Consider some other recent movie releases--Escaflowne, Akira (3
different versions: standard, deluxe, and now 5.1 dolby), Char's
Counterattack, Jin-Roh, Ah! My Goddess...hell, even normal series
discs like Excel Saga or Furi Kuri--and Manga's releases are simply
lame.

Both movies were released on a single disc. Death & Rebirth was
dual-sided (which means no disc art). EoE is either single-sided or
dual-layered (and has no disc art).
Death & Rebirth had basically five extras: A glossary of terms, an
'art gallery', a Mokuji feature, audio commentary, and trailers. The
glossary was the only good thing about it. The art gallery was about
a half-dozen screenshots from the movie, all low-quality. The Mokuji
feature effectively integrated the glossary with the movie, but was
available only for the dub. The audio commentary is for the dub only,
and is provided by the dubbing team, where you learn they're proud of
the changes they made in the dialog and the jokes they inserted to
'lighten up' the series.
EoE has even fewer extras: It has trailers and yet another dub team
audio commentary (again, only through the dub version of the movie).

The transfers are, however, pretty good, and EoE has 6.1 and 5.1 audio
for both languages.

The only inserts are posters that double as chapter guides.

When you consider that Evangelion is one of the most important anime
series of the past decade, and End of Evangelion is famous simply for
being a trip, the movies deserved a much better treatment. More &
better extras, better cover art, special editions, more discs...
It's almost sad that every Excel Saga disc has better extras than the
Evangelion movies.

Heh, no kidding. :) I can understand people criticizing a disc with bad
compression or generally lousy video or sound, or things like the video
overlays in Eva disc 1 or the lack of Japanese audio in the MS Gundam discs
and some of the Dragonball discs, since those affect the actual experience of
watching the video... but to start picking apart things you notice when
you're doing anything -but- watching the show... I mean, what's the point?

For Death and Rebirth, yes, the DVD is fine if you're just going to watch
the feature.

The End of Evangelion DVD is a different story.

The End of Evangelion DVD is a different story.

For more info on this, head over here. It covers most, if not all of the
problems associated with EoE's disastrous R1 release.
