Just read an article in the local newspaper's Art section (Columbus
(OH)
Sunday
Dispatch talking about this traveling exhibit that has art by 18
Japanese and
American artists, and it seems very interesting (they note that one of
the
paintings includes Sailor Moon in it). Not very likely that it will hit
Columbus, IMO, but from the description it seems to want to
show Anime's influence in the culture of art (Noting in the article
that anime was influenced by Western animation (naming
Disney, of course) and derived from manga). Just waking up and
going thru the newspaper, the last thing I expected to see in
it was the headline in large black type "Anime's Influence
Extends Beyond Japanese Culture." Charlotta Kotik, the curator of
contemporary paintings and sculpture at the Museum pointed out
that she thought that, for an American society more accustomed
to cartoons aimed at children, it could be a learning experience.
One can only hope.

Sorry, the header should have ended with "Animation" (which is the
completed title of the exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum of Art).
