In this week's Chicago Reader, an ad for a bar called Delilah's talked
about one of its drink specials: the Mazinger!
Has anyone actually had one of these? What's in it? Is it a
coincidence, or did some bartender whip something up and decide to name
it after a Go Nagai giant robot?
Interesting times for anime fans, indeed

Kewl! Let's make up anime cocktails!

Lum: Dark Rum and Advocaat (yuk!)
Ako: Everything in, preferably in a large glass
Bko: Cherry Brandy & Bitters
Cko: Strawberry Milkshake... doesn't count does it?
Lain: Empty glass, just try to imagine the contents ^_^

Hmmm...
The Belldandy: cola. (Just cola. If you know anything about the
cola incident in the manga, you'll know what I mean.)
The Lime: lime juice, and enough tequila to give it some
spaz... after enough of these you'll be as clueless and loud as Lime...
The Kinomoto Sakura: Sprite, cherry syrup, and 5 pounds of sugar.
The Justy Ueki Tylor: Who cares, as long as it has alcohol in it?
The Taskui: Everclear and a lighter. With one mouthful of this in
conjunction with the tessen...er, lighter, you can throw flames like Tasuki!
... and be as tough and irrational!
The Lina Inverse: 151 rum and tabasco sauce, with a nice lemon
garnish and paper umbrella. Sure it looks cute with the garnish, but
it's one tough, powerful drink that leaves a burning aftertaste.
The Zelgadis: Everclear and antifreeze. After a bottle of this you'll
be blue and stone cold...
The Xellos: You want to know the ingredients? That's a secret ^_-

...one more bit of gristle clog in the ham juicer.
The Hino Rei: Like a Bloody Mary but with a cup of Tabasco sauce.
The Kino Makoto: Lots of lime juice just to make it green, and lots of brandy
to make it strong.
The Asuka Langley: Same as Lina Inverse, but a dash of whisky.
The Misato: A fridge full of beer.
The Minako: Lemonade with Cointreau, orange juice, and Fruit Loops.
The Mizuno Ami: Like a Blue Moon, but with a mellower taste.
The Nuku Nuku: Brandy, Rum, and Gin with four cups of sugar and LOTS of
strawberry juice to give it that pink-crimson color to match her hair and of
course her spunk.
The Key: Water with 100 proof gin at the bottom. Can hardly see it and you'll
never expect it.
The Amelia: A Black Russian with 20 oz of sugar and pure caffiene mixed in.
The hyperactivity will kill you.
The Gourry: Lemonade, but with a bit of pure cocaine and lots of wood grain
alcohol that will make you a dumb ninny after you drink it. Just like Gourry.
The Chibi-Usa: A virgin drink, but with enough sugar to make the Amelia and
Kinomoto Sakura combined look like Shirley Temples in comparison.
And the ironic thing is, that I'm underage. Unless I'm in Mexico. :)
Duke of Dispersion. An anime fan without otaku aftertaste.
"Ah, yes, my friend the squeegee! I love you!" -Crow T. Robot
"Why are you saying things that I don't understand?" -Nuku-Nuku
The Sana-chan: Hi-powered vitamin drink, with bits of white Bacardi that
keep popping into it when you don't expect.

Given clothing habits, I thought it was the Maeter that was a tall Black Russian...

Shouldn't that be dash of peppermint schnaps or Jagermeister?

Shayla-Shayla: Beer.
Afura Mann: Cognac.
Miz Mishtal: One-tenth of whatever she's giving to Fujisawa-sensei.
Fujisawa-sensei: Torpedo alcohol (Usually 198 proof)

HAhahahaha . . . *perfect*! I love the contrast effect of the ingredients .
. .
Almost has to be a Martini, then;
one made with Green (dry) Vermouth-
-can you replace the Gin with Sake?
Hmm: Gin is a distilled Beer (mixed with juniper berry juice),
while Sake is actually a Rice beer; so distilled Sake mixed
with juniper berry juice is a Gin.
Lum: Mix 2 parts Sake Gin with 1 part dry Vermouth,
and drop in a pickled plum.
(Haven't looked at this stuff since College 10 years ago-
but I kept my book on the subject, and I'm loking it up as
I go ...)
-Galen
> Nope... need something garnished with a pickled plum. ^_-
So drop one on top! (and don't forget the chillis, Lum likes the colour!)
hehehe ^_^

Yes. It is very sweet. Liquers (which can be wines or brandies)
generally refers to strong alcoholic drinks used originally for
apertifs. Mostly they wind up in mixed drinks.

When thinking of Lum, I was thinking of some disgusting mix to suit her
tastes, plus wildly contrasting the colour. Vermouth and Sake/Gin would be
almost totally colourless! O.o

... Taglines that make you go "Hmmm..."
-- I agree. Oh, here's my $0.02 (knowing nuts about alcoholic drinks...) :
Belldandy : (As mentioned) Cola. Of course, if you're going for the
non-intoxicating version, let it go flat first. (wonder what makes her...
intoxicated?)
Urd : Just dump every alcoholic drink you have in the house in and stir
well. Add an olive on the side and sip from a tasting glass. See you
tomorrow morning.....
Skuld (nobody thought of it) : A shot of dry gin with a spoonful of wasabe,
add three scoops of ice cream. That ought to wake you right up and keep you
up. Add a dollop of light bicycle grease if you feel like having that
lingering feel to it.
The Tsujimoto Natsumi : For one hell of a punch, add quarter bottle of rum
to a half-cup of watermelon juice, chill well and shake before serving.
Paper umbrellas, apple, orange and assorted fruit juices optional.
If anyone can think of anything for A Kobayakawa Miyuki special, add it! ^_^
-RMF
Not sure about the contents but it might do well in a sugared oil can...
