The website doesn't say, but it occurs to me that this may
be a 2-disc release, with all 13 episodes. The animation is
simple, so it could be done well if they have a sophisticated
encoding program, and Funi may very well, since they already
did it with Fruits Basket. Also, they may need a rapid response
from the market to make the decision of whether to license
season 2 or not.
Well, one should try to give them decent marketing information, then...
I am not what one would call a "Tenchi completist". Is this show worth
buying?

Although I'm not really a fan of magical girl anime (or Tenchi Muyo) I'm
definitely going to get this, since I really liked the first episode.

Oh, man, this one is *so* mine, if I can get a job!
To hear the immortal line "I am not a wienie! You are the wienie!"
spoken by Ricardo Montalban, it's just classic. Almost up there
is Ed Asner's "smells like poo gas."

It has nothing to do with Tenchi.
What we have is between two worlds story, a magic world,
and the modern world. Traffic between the two worlds is
sufficiently active that they have train service, but the mundanes
are nevertheless ignorant of the existence of the magic world.
This is a problem for the Halfs, growing up with connections to
both worlds; they have the power to be very dangerous, without
the control to *not* use it. The approach towards taking control
of the situation is to work through the schools and establish
Magical Girls Clubs that use peer pressure to keep the witchlings
in line; of course, this leads to blowing their cover to tiny itsy
bitsy pieces, and society reacting to the knowledge that there
are magical girls everywhere. Which is season 2, and is awesome.
Season 1 isn't really; that's just young girls pressured into joining
a club, forming a gang, and going on field trips. The evil part of
the magical world doesn't kick in until season 2.

"New", yes. "Notable", no. -_-

Or even AIC, for that matter, except for some acquired title-rights.

Oh, and Pixy Misa is nowhere to be found, even in principle.
Those no longer interested may exit by the side door.
Derek Janssen (oh, tell me you don't still think OAV3 was "real", either...)

It has been licensed.
http://astronerdboy.blogspot.com/2008/02/sasami-mahou-shoujo-club-2-licensed.html
That's because this has nothing to do with either "Pretty Sammy"
line. They did bring over Misao from that line (just as they brought
Sasami, Washu, Mihoshi, and Ryo-ohki over from TM!R), but "Sasami" is
a completely different magic girl Tenchi spinoff.

So the canon spinoff-sequel being produced (assuming it gets to TV)
starring Tenchi's half-brother doesn't count?

Nnnno. And neither does the loser-gag-comedy Nabeshin one, starring
Tenchi's neighbor and Mihoshi's cousin.

There hasn't been any real Tenchi since Tenchi sliced the Souja in half.

What nonsense are you babbling? There were only two Terminator
movies. Next you'll be talking about "Highlander II" or some such rot.
