I had a chance to visit a Borders express in Detroit today. The largest
section of the store was the manga section. There were 3 short rows full.
I also visited a regular Borders store a few miles away. They had 3 long
rows of manga. The largest in Dallas has 2 long rows. In addition, they
had 2 shelf's of manga in Japanese. They had Borders price labels and such.
Ichogo 100% was almost complete. (missing the last 3 books.) They also had
School Rumble and Pastel. It was over priced at $12.95 each, so I wont' be
getting any from them. The local Barns and Noble had a good sized
collection. Still a bit smaller than the largest new store in Dallas, but
bigger than most of them.

I live in Metro Baltimore and all of our Manga is translated. I don't
think there is enough of a interest for there to be Japanese language
in most major markets in this country at Borders stores. I am
surprised that Borders gives that much free reign on their stores.

Does Barnes and Nobles stores do Japanese language manga? I know the
one near me doesn't have any Japanese language manga.

I have never seen a B&N with Japanese Language manga. This was the first
Borders I had ever seen with Japanese language manga.

There's a Border's in Tyson's Corner VA that carries untranslated
manga, although it's only a handful of titles. In fact, I believe
it might be the same titles mentioned earlier in the thread, "School
Rumble" (which I bought), "Ichigo 100%" (ditto), and a couple of
others which I didn't buy. I wanted something I could practice
learning kanji with, since they use furigana on nearly all the
kanji in the above titles. "School Rumble" is especially interesting
since the "delinquent" character, Harima, often speaks in mixed
hiragana, katakana, and kanji, often within the same word. It's
an interesting effect, and I wonder what the mangaka was intending...
