Looks like the guys at Funimation are looking for their next
license, and are being slightly subtle about it:

<http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/survey.zgi?p=WEB2296BDH59FM>

<http://preview.tinyurl.com/oggngp>

The titles are mostly currently airing, or just aired in Japan,
with a few exceptions. One interesting choice is a redub of Sailor
Moon . . .

Nice, asking what you would buy, Casshern Sins, Toradora!, K-ON!,
Basquash!, that one I would must certainly buy.

I'd buy a re-release of Sailor Moon if they do it like they are doing for
One Piece and Meitantei Conan, where I am buying the "uncut" sets. But there
have to be subs, and not just a dub, "redubbed" or otherwise.

The only other ones on the list that interest me are Basquash and Pandora
Hearts.

Funimation has been doing stuff like this at CONS around North Texas for the
last few years. They have a daily prize drawing to get people to
participate. There are also fill in the blank sections. The anounced
Tsubasa after 2 cons where it was activly penciled in.

That got my vote, too, but only for keeping it licensed and accessible
for the new kids--
Pretty much my only vote, since I haven't gotten around to my fansubs of
Valkyria or SSS.

So, they're surveying on Zoomerang, for which CN anime might show up on
Boomerang...
What, is Lady Elaine handling the surveys? ;)

Well, they might get more people to participate if the form could be
filled in without having JavaScript enabled ...

While a redub of Sailor moon would be pretty cool:

1. Is there truly a market for it?

2. I thought that there was some sort of legal problem with licensing the
show outside of Japan, so is this possibility just sort of being dangled out
there as sort of a carrot on a stick type thing? Or have those problems
been solved.

If "entire series" means "original, R, S, SuperS, Stars, movies, and
specials," then yes. Stars and the specials have never been released
commercially/legally in R1.

I'm not aware of any problems; I thought this was a case of "they're
asking for too much money."

I was under the impression some of the original embargo was in the wake
of the corporate owners trying to start fresh in promoting the (yeesh!)
live-action series as canon--
Which marketing push now seemed to have thankfully died down, and now
merely a matter of how fresh the title is JP-side, and whether the
owners literally want to *bother* selling.

Not sure whether Naoko still wants to hide "Stars" away from the outside
world (I wouldn't either ;) ), but given that this release would be
designed for collector-market non-broadcast disk, there should be other
licensing factors at play than there were in '92--It's at least worth a
shot to find out.

I did that survey, and basically asked them where they come up with
this junk.

About the only series I have any non-zero interest at all (and tepid
at best -- and told them as such!) was Sayanora (whatever that second
word is) Sensei.

I mean, is this what anime has disintegrated to?

And, they...basically thought you were a fanboy crank and ignored you.

You think what's INSIDE his head is a nicer place? Not to hear HIM
describe it. He just LIKES to think about dark, gloomy, nasty things.

Ask them. I didn't identify myself in the survey.

But I took one look at the list of those titles and found such utter
pablum that I could only give a tepid recommendation to Sayanora...
and be done with it.

(And then I told them that in the comment box. This is the kind of
junk we're left with because of the fansubbers and downloaders.)

Why do you think a lot of us enjoy(ed) anime in the first place,

They'd have had to discern it was me -- they might be able to do that
_NOW_ if they read RAAM.

Maybe he could tell us what he thinks is a "good series," since
he's calling everything crap . . .
