This may not be news to most, but was to me

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-10-22/sojitz-dissolution-of-arm-to-not-affect-funimation

The list on the page included Red Garden, and this aquirung of licenses from
ARM (?) seems to explain a few things.

So, Sojitz broke up with ADV, and it's Sojitz that's ceasing
operations... (That's the exact opposite of what the local
doom-and-gloom-sayer claimed, I'll point out.) I wonder whether these
two data points are connected?

So it seems Sojitz didn't dump ADV because ADV was going bakrupt,
ADV dumped Sojitz because Sojitz was going bankrupt!

In other news, how full of shit is Darky? He's so full of shit:

- Home Depot sells him in bulk!
- Add some fuel oil to him, and you could blow up a federal building!
(what, too soon?)
- He could run a biomass electric plant for a month!
- He keeps the entire state of Iowa fertilized year-round!

Good night, try the veal!

Now this is entirely speculation on my part (and unlike some who shall
remain nameless, I fully admit upfront that it is purely 100%
speculation and don't claim it to be FACT) and as such should be taken
as just that: speculation. but it seems to me (in light of that
article) what went down was that Sojitz ran into financial trouble and
wanted ADV to buy the licenses outright from them. ADV was unwilling
or unable to do so(after all if they could have bought them outright
they would have done so in the first place rather than go thru ARM) .
This resulted in a showdown between the two that caused the initial
delay in shipments. When Sojitz realized ADV wasn't going and/or able
to do what they wanted a deal was stuck so ADV could continue
releasing (Sojitz needed the money, and no releases meant no money
coming in) until Sojitz could find someone willing to buy. That
someone turned out to be FUNI.

I don't think man kind has invented a scale big enough to measure that.
