Hi, again, Dorkstar! I've been waiting for some doomer to take the under
on an over-under bet on the first torches and pitchforks riot in the U.S.
The over-under is August of this year. I'll take the over. You up for
taking the under?

In the middle of a deflationary crisis, Dorkstar predicts massive
inflation. *snrk*

What's the matter, Doomy, aren't other economic crises more to your taste?
No second Great Depression, collapse of the USSR, implosion of Argentina,
or, to make it more on-topic for rec.arts.anime.*, Lost Decade of Japan--
oh, no, it /has/ to be Weimar Germany!

Yep. Print to get out of debt, and the price of everything explodes.
Thanks for playing.

Umm, moron, don't you think that that was part of the Great Depression
the first time, was what happened in Weimar Germany?

Oh, that's right... Nothing which happens outside the good ol' USofA
matters to you.

Lamb to the slaughter, you shall be.

Tough call, but with what's been happening and the inklings of a
possible tax revolt... We certainly don't appear to be getting
through 2009... I'll take the under, if for no other reason than to
be a contrarian this once.

Guys, I'm going to be nice and not get involved in the politic-economic
discussion. I ask that you have the same courtesy.

Ultimately it depends on the market value of the US dollar.
The dollar is weakening worldwide, fyi

Are you kidding? With all the sheeple grazing? There will not be any
rioting or tax revolts until the TV tells them to do it. The last
"riots" only happened when the TV cameras were turned on (Rodney King)
and they were only because it was proved they could get away with it
in 1968 (MLK Jr).

Hell, the MLK riots were the last ones that actually happened in more
than one city, making the "white flight" accelerate. The decrease in
tax base in the cities and increase on the demand on services in the
suburbs only served to drive taxes higher, where ever you lived. Not
to mention the first thing cut was education, such that the emphasis
on a good education from the 50's was given a back seat to "not
holding children back" and dumbing down the citizenry.

News and speculation about when the housing bubble was going to burst
went on for two to three years in the financial press (Forbes,
Fortune, Money) before it happened and the current financial mess
resulted. Isn't it amazing that gas prices went up sharply in Jun 2008
and dropped after the Nov 2008 elections? Think, if you remember how.

There were no TVs at Boston Harbor, May 10th 1773

What happened after that?

Gunner

"Upon Roosevelt's death in 1945, H. L. Mencken predicted in his diary
that Roosevelt would be remembered as a great president, "maybe even
alongside Washington and Lincoln," opining that Roosevelt "had every
quality that morons esteem in their heroes.""
