Saw the followup show narrated by Whoopi after Charlie Brown's Xmas. The
Adult actors who were the original voices of Lucy and Charlie Brown were
interviewed. Sorry don't have their names in front of me but the girl
was especially a familiar face in the 60s and 70s (She was a once little
girl on Star Trek and the daughter on the Paul Lynde Show, etc.).
Anyways this is a Mark Evanier type of question: those two were cast
together on other shows, right? Were they also the boy and girl on
Curiosity Shop* and Cookie and Alexander on Blondie ('68/'69 CBS) or is
my mind playing tricks on me?
Gerard
(*watched that show all the time- had the only recurring role of a
character named "Gerard")

Not the first Lucy voice but one of them Pam Ferdin, was on many shows like the
ones you've mentioned. Sally Dryer (who did not play Sally :))M played the 1965
Lucy.

It figures that Lucy would try to ruin the circus for all the
other kids.

Just visted her site . I think I'll get my answer soon.
Being passionate about (anything) animals doesn't make anyone a "nut
job".
Neither does not agreeing whole-heartedly with someone.
Nothing on her site would make me conclude that including her essays.

She wasn't doing anything illegal..Barbra Streisand is a bigger

Baldwin. Bush got in, though it took until January 2001! And those two

I disagree. People like Ferdin do deserve to choose whatever they believe in,
but they don't have the right to loudly shove them down peaceful folks'

I bet he felt like a real blockhead once he saw what was going on.

In a related somewhat true to life cartoonism, in waiting until TODAY to
find a Christmas tree (or yesterday, I guess, it IS 4 AM), I think Good Ol'
Charlie Brown finally pawned his sad little twig off on some Beach Boulevard
tree lot who, in turn, pawned it off on ME, just because I thought it was
funny.

(Of course, the IMDb can be wrong, in fact, a variety of its voice
credits for the Peanuts shows are wrong.)

The first voice of Charlie Brown was Peter Robbins, who did the first
six shows, from "Charlie Brown Christmas" to "It Was a Short Summer,
Charlie Brown", and the movie "A Boy Named Charlie Brown." He was
featured in the "Making of A Charlie Brown Christmas" documentary.

The next Charlie Brown was Chris Inglis, who did one show ("Play it
Again, Charlie Brown").

Then Chad Webber did two shows ("You're Not Elected" and "There's No
Time For Love") and the movie "Snoopy Come Home" as Charlie Brown.

Anyway, I could go on, but none of them were in "Curiosity Shop." I do
see that Barbara Minkus played "Gettel the Witch" on that show, and she
has a Peanuts connection - she was one of the actresses/singers in the
original off-Brodway cast of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."

The "large stick" in question was a bullhook, a wooden pole with a
metal hook on one end; essentially a device trainers use to torture
elephants. Apparently, Ferdin brought a bullhook to the protest,
to show people the kind of weapons that are used on circus animals.
Police confiscated the bullhook from Ferdin, despite the fact that
the elephant trainers also had bullhooks in their possession, just
a few dozen feet away.

It would be unfortunate if Lucy did "ruin the circus for all the
other kids." But cruelty to animals shouldn't be tolerated in order
to entertain children.

I'm not Pamelyn Ferdin. I don't believe we've met, Mr. Worth, but
I used to be in APATOONS many years ago (long before you were
editor, thankfully).

I won't comment on Ferdin's tactics. However, it is true that
circus animals are often abused by their trainers. If this
"nut job" simply tried to bring this to the public's attention,
then more power to her.

The press releases I've read indicate she wasn't doing anything of
the sort. Apparently she was not obstructing or otherwise interfering
with people attending the circus. According to the L.A. TIMES, her
only "crime" was possessing a bullhook -- ironic, because according
to the same report, nearby elephant trainers had several of these in
their possession. Apparently, possessing this item is illegal in
San Fernando, unless you happen to be torturing elephants with it.

Goes back to "Leave it to Beaver" (or is it I have been reading the hilarious
1983 book THE BEAVER PAPERS (authors Will Gerard and ?Jones),just a little too
long? This was a satirical look at what would have resulted in a 1963-1964
season of Wally and The Beav had famous writers come in to contribute-or had,
in the case of dearly deceased ones, had work that was adapted-very funny
book). Anyway, maybe Icky meant the roles Pamelyn Ferdin played.I agree with
someone who said that to be in THIS business (animation) you have to be a nut

gone out of my way for years CRITICIZING the same protests, I was not toally
aware of just how serious Pam's actions had been (and I have ALWAYS believed in
the last several decades that the circus has ben rejected as a ultrasquare
relic out of the longtime past, and can even understand how the circus people
felt as well.)]

Hmm. Now I am getting more and more mixed up regarding what my verdict should
be.

And plus your boss J.K. IS Ren! This is revisionist (RENvinisionist..that might
be a popular term around here and alt.animation.spumco) history (Heestory...in
Renese) on VH-1. Besides it comes on too late. (I have to get to bed before 12
pm, even though I am 41..various irrelevant reasons..though since it is on
weekends SOMETIMES I might stay up..I am R&S fan..but the last two facts and
the quoted one, that ist's cut, are driving me away from the VH-1 showings)

Was this according to something written by the LA TIMES, or according to HER
LETTER to the Times?

That's OK.

As for the circus thing, while I am not for animal rights, I'm also agaisnt any
malace done to animals - that is to hurt them out of cruelity.

Circuses have the right to stay open and to have trained animals, but one must
be careful not to hurt them, as it is being alleged here. It's probally not
very easy to train animals whose spieces live in the wild.
