Retconning gives Anakin his own apprentice. I took one look at the
apprentice's character design and thought, "Man, Lucas is really pandering to
the drooling fanboys out there." :-P

And "Not REALLY Shaak Ti, because we killed her off in the movies
offscreen before we had as much chance as we wanted to market her, but
someone just as cool who *might* have been her from Episode 2!" at that...

Oh god. It looks like the movie has way too much juvenile humor in it. A
baby Hutt that belches? Gahhhh... This commercial makes it look like a kids
movie. There's nothing wrong with that of course, but it's quite a change
from the dark and serious tone of the commercials I've seen for it up to
now.
Supposedly the son of Jabba. Gee, does that mean that mean old Leia
orphaned some poor kid in "Return"? :-)
> This commercial makes it look like a kids movie.
The tone definitely makes this out as a kid's movie. But that outfit
they designed for the apprentice makes me wonder if they're going for the
pervy fans at the same time.

Lots of horny 12 year olds out there :)

I've seen the trailer a couple of times and I have just one question
... what is Prince Charming, from Shrek 2/3, doing in this movie,
armed with a light saber?

"A portent, therefore, happens not contrary to nature,
but contrary to what we know as nature."
Wrong apprentice.
It should be this one:

They'd be more interested in the robots and spaceships.

And, seriously... You guys are complaining that they put a
skimpy (if it even can be said to be skimpy... come on!) outfit
on a Twi'lek?! You must've missed the last 25 years of Star Wars
material...
Well, considering the kid would have been Leia's age in Jedi + time from
Clone Wars movie to Ep3 + age of kid in Clone Wars movie...
And is it me, or does the animation look like WalMart aisle dump
quality?

Hah! It's not just you . . .

Ah, you hate all movie animation.

- It may be 'for' kids but that doesn't mean they should make it ugly.
- It is Star Wars, a very big part of modern societies' toolbox of
references. Going for the cash has always been a part of a measure of
success But it seems the guys making this would have some pride in
craftsmanship. It would seem.

After the Genndy Tartakovsky Cartoon Network "Dexter's Jedi" version, NO
new version could be "ugly"...

Except for the 'bullshit' part and the 'I never said anything like that
in my life' part and the 'why the hell are you just making shit up'
part, sure.

ITYM "Samurai Jedi"; Gendy Tartakovsky didn't become a legend with

Oh puhlease, you regular rail against animation the of us mere mortals like.
Or to put in your words: You hate animation a lot more than we do.
Or put more simply: Name the last 5 animated movies you liked.
-- Ken from Chicago
P.S. And don't get me started on Life cereal!
I've liked everything I've seen from Pixar.
Everything I've seen from Dreamworks has been crap.
I like most classic Disney. In the new stuff, I like Little Mermaid and
Mulan. Beauty and the Beast is horrible.
I don't think there's a Bluth film I'd go thumbs up on. Parts of some
of it are pretty but it ultimately all fails. (Space Ace and Dragon's
Lair don't count because for some bizarre reason you said I hated all
movie animation, and those aren't movies.)
If you'd extend the definition, I loved "So the Drama"

What was wrong with "Secret of NIMH"?
Ron
The same "Helpless" fetish (literally) that made all his other films so
squicky to watch?

I think, for the most part, his dislike is in CGI. if something came
along to make you obsolete, you'd hate it too. ;-)
As for Clone wars, the plot/'acting'/etc... is as good as the other
movies (call that a compliment or a diss as you see fit). It
ultimately wasn't any more insulting to the intelligence than Iron Man
and all of the stupidity here (slapstick robot, people that defy
gravity/physics, perfect ability to talk/hear whle surrounded by
battle, etc...) is consistent with the creations in prior Star Wars
(and other) films.
The visuals were very good although somewhat inconsistent as they
slipped into comic book style changes in size/perception to fit stuff
onscreen at times (see those big ships flying over the battle?).
Still, it held up a lot closer to the last couple of Star Wars movies
in visual quality than I expected from what is essentially a TV show
being premiered in the theater. The animation/CGI/whatever are much
better than what you see from TV.
The movie even took a moment to steal a Star Trek Voyager
character. ;-)
For me, the most awkward part of the film was the 'instant
relationship' between Skywalker and Ahsoka. They were bantering
during battle just like they had known each other for years.
That horrible tractor . . .
btw, rottentomatoes has a great review of clone wars
"George Lucas is turning into the enemy of fun."

They are more than movies--they are interactive "choose your path" movies.

Wha?

P.S. No fair, countering my online arguments with facts!

By that argument, he'd love CLONE WARS, cuz its far from extincting (it's a
word, I'm coining it) manual animators.

ANTZ is horrible; I turned it off halfway through. Haven't ever seen
the original SHREK.

Wrong in every possible way. I've been doing CGI for decades. And I
think the Dreamworks traditional stuff was as bad as their CGI, but then
the core of all their product is rotten, live action as well as
animation.
