Those that know, may best know of it as a vehicle for Amy Pohler,
originally called Super Scout. If I didn't know, I'd have sworn it
was a John K project, as the style is almost identical.
The name comes from both the main character, 9 year-old Bessie
Higenbottom, and from her quest to get all Honeybee badges, the
Honeybees being an obvious parody of the Girl Scouts.
It's certainly an energetic show, quirky, and an aquired taste
judging by the reviews I've seen . . .

Well, Bill Wray worked on Ren and Stimpy and Mighty Bee. Bessie is
annoying like Jimmy the Idiot Boy. But I don't think it's especially
like a John K show...
Either way, it has one of the most energetic openings I've seen in
a while . . .

Saw more, and now have two episodes I really like:
"Bee Patient"
After some surprisingly rough version of rolling down the hill,
Bess and Happy go to their doctors to get fixed up. Happy goes
through the usual humiliations dogs endure at the vet, makes the
appropriate facial (over)reactions, and is topped off by the ultimate
humiliation . . . a cone!
Bess tries to prove she's good, by showing Happy she'll have no
problem when she sees the doctor. Of course, then change, first when
she learns her usual doctors is off that day, and then when she finds
out it's time for . . . A BOOSTER SHOT!
The show provied a great child's-view of the doctor's office,
especially a scared child!
"Toot Toot"
More of a guilty pleasure, this one is entirely based on one thing:
farting. Yes, farting.
To the horror of her troop, Bess cuts one loose during a meeting.
The ultra-strict den-mother insists, "Honeybees . . . don't . . .
FART!!!", shortly before kicking Bess off her beloved Girl Sc- . . .
errr Honeybees. Of course, we soon see how despondent life is for
both Bess and her Honeybee troop, as neither can really live without
the other: the Honeybees have no energy, and Bess has nothing to vent
herself into.
Needless to say, Bess soon finds something interesting in the
Honeybee Handbook: not only is farting allowed in the Honeybees, it's
encouraged . . . there's a badge to be earned! The "Toot Toot Badge"
is given to a Honeybee who courageously cuts the cheese in public!
What follows is a "Rocky training" sequence of Bess eating cans of
beans, broccoli, and other "stimulating" foods!
In the climax, Bess goes to a public park, and sets herself atop a
stack of books to help amplify the sound. Alas, she can't produce a
proper emission. Cue Happy to the rescue; that's right, this time,
the dog did it! It proves to be silent but deadly, with people in the
park literally turning green! Well, at least Bess got her badge . . .
Even for those who don't see the Ren & Stimpy style in the show,
it's nice to see a dash of 1990's animated wackiness still alive.
