I have no experience with VHO lighting. However, if there were
no discount, the costs ($180) are similiar to the costs of a 400 watt
Metal Halide light (mine was around $200 a while back). The Metal Halide
takes up even less room over the tank, provides more light and might
require less frequent replacement of the bulbs. Anyway the more light
the better. Have fun with fish!
