Greetings,

Anyone have any opinions on the protein skimmer produced by Lee's Aquarium
Supply.
I saw one in the local Petco (sorry) while picking up some activated carbon,
and salt.
It was only $24, and I didn't have a skimmer or the big $$$s to get one of
the really nice ones right now so I got it. Seems to be skimming away
rather nicely. Just curious.

I'm very happy with mine. I got the large model and chopped a couple
inches off both tubes so it'd fit in my 55g. Produces a very impressive
bubble stream and skimmer cup collects truly foul looking output.

Biggest drawback that I see is that it sits inside the tank. Not a
problem for me but could be for tanks jam-packed w/live rock (I have only
60 lbs of Florida rock in my 55).

I have a 20g long reef. No sump. No filter. Just lr and ls and my lees
skimmer. I bought it for $6.00 marked as used but never been used. It had a
crack in the cup that a little silicone fixed right up. It works great! It is
now covered with coraline. Most of the skimmer is hidden by the rocks anyway.
I do my reefing on the budget plan. I was planning on using this skimmer until
I could afford a cpr backpack I may just stick with the lees and use the $$ for
a couple more corals. :-) All water tests are in good specs.

Hi Ed,

It seems that this skimmer is a good value...
Its design is suprisingly efficient, and the price is reasonable.
($14.99 at our LFS)

I've been trying to dream up how I could DIY mod the
skimmer to accept a RIO RVT venturi pump. ($15.95)
http://premiumaquatics.com/cgi-bin/loadpage.cgi?3846+riopump.html

It might make a nice sump skimmer for small tanks :)
And with the materials totaling around $35 it may even give the CBR SR2 a
run for its money!?

Hmmmm, I wonder :)

If anyone has any ideas, please share them.

Thanx for the responses folks.

I think I may go out and buy another and run both on my 75 gal. Couldn't
hurt.
Although I am not crazy about hearing the air pumps running constantly.
