Can I mix freshwater and marine fish ?

Of course I'm joking ... but this is the very same question I overheard at
the LFS today .... this guy was completely serious !! He actually made a
suggestion of pouring salt onto the marine fish before he put it into the
tank so they could survive in his "regular" (freshwater I'm assuming here)
tank .... oh brother ... has anyone here heard anything more ridiculous than
this ??

Yea .... just pour some table salt onto a marine fish and throw it into a
freshwater tank ... NO PROBLEM !!!!!

Was this a customer at the LFS asking a store employee? If this is the
case, the important question is: how did the LFS person respond to the
question? ;-)
