Help!, Native American Pottery, Rugs, and Paintings..

As part of a small estate I am an interested in those who could
help in finding professional or 'approximate' appraisal of several items
of Pottery including Maria and Julian, Fannie Nampeyo and Blue Corn
Pots. Additionally, I could use help with Frank Lalamia, Allan Hauser
and other paintings. Any pointers or names would be useful, thanks, Rob

Recently I brokered some fairly valuable Native American items for my
sister, including some Maria pottery, Apache and Pima baskets, Hopi pots
and an exquisite Navajo blanket, all from the 30's and 40's. I
appraised the items for her and then sold them to a buyer. I checked
with local dealers in Native American items (of course, I'm in the
southwest U.S. so there are a lot of these dealers), looked at several
sites on the net ( for the Maria's just do a search on Maria Martinez or
San Ildefonso pueblo - some of those Native American sites are not only
lovely to look at, they have beautiful music, too.), checked recent
auction results and consulted books, one of which was "North American
Indian Artifacts" by Lar Hothem.

Hi Rob,
Where are you? I'd suggest you find a reliable appraiser of Native
American art. You could check with the American Appraisers Ass'n. and the
Tribal Antique Dealers' Ass'n. for reliable names. If there's a museum in
your city with any sizable Native American collection, the curator(s)
could also point you in the right direction.
