I bought this painting at an auction awhile back, can't find any info
on the artist (Westphal), I've posted some pics here including
closeups of the back. Is it worthless, like my life?

Diane,
I checked at www.artprice.com and found two 'F's with Westphal. The
first was Friedrich Westphal 1890-? with an auction record of one
painting dated 1964 and auctioned on Nov.3,2001 . size 50.5x40.5
The second was a Fritz Westphal 1804-1844 with eight auction records;

WESTPHAL, Fritz (1804-1844)

Hey Doug,

It's good of you to research the artist for this lady but you've completely
ignored the personal cry for help - "Is it worthless, like my life?" - in
her original email. Whats happened to the personal caring attitude of this
news group? I hereby nominate you group therapist, go for it!

(*<~ I was 'trying' to avoid letting her know that her painting
wasn't completely worthless, while her life WAS. I imagine that soon she
will leap from the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and tie the traffic up for
HOURS.... Oy-Vey !

I had 'planned' to go fishing in that area,
