I am looking at buying a very lovely peice of silver to start my
collection off. It is a sugar bowl and looks wonderful. The problem
is that I believe it is a James Dixon but the seller thinks it is James
Deakin!
I think I am goingto buy it anyway but could anyone tell me who was the
better or preferred maker out of the two.
The hallmark is JD & Sons on one line and to me this signifies Dixon.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Re old message
Did you ever find out? My problem is the opposite, I only want James Dixon (because one of their family used to live in our house) I am told definite James Deakin things (with lamp) are Dixon. They get cross if I say otherwise, So I am assuming Dixon is best, but there again it is most common. Please let me know of any info on value, it would be much appreciated.
