This guy had an ad in the Denver Post about a month ago. That didn't
work so now he's trying craigslist. The paper ad had no prices listed
so I called. I'm sure he said $200 for the Knight and I didn't ask
about the Philco. Now he wants $800 for a tabletop breadbox shaped 3
band Knight and $400 for a common Philco 40-150. I called to see if
there was something special about the Philco. He said he paid $50 for
it and had it fixed (replaced PT), so now to him it's worth $400. I
told him book price was 85-105 but that didn't bother him. The last
time I talked to him about the Knight he couldn't tell me anything
other than "it has 3 bands and its in really good shape. Well worth
the money!" He also has a cheapo rack stereo system listed for $400.
Not worth $30 at any garage sale. Talk about living in a delusional
world!

Everyone is entitled to live in his own reality, where things are
worth exactly what he believes they are worth.

It's not reality, his or anybody elses because nobody is buying it....

Yep

and it avoids the possibility of receiving cash...

(could be germs on it you know) <G>

Reminds me of a story though.

Over 30 years ago my brother-in-law saw a Philco console in an antique
shop and told the owner he should really be asking $150 for it...(It was
marked $75)

Yep, you guessed it...his wife wanted it...
so they bought it for $150

The reality will be the radios will end up in a dumpster
when he realizes that his treasures are more mundane than
desirable.

I say the seller is fishing for suckers.

As W.C. Fields used to day, "Never give a sucker an even break, or smarten
up a chump".

I have a 1938 Allied spring/summer catalog and saw a few interesting
Knight table models in it. Although none of them have tuned RF stages,
there are a few interesting cabinet designs. That's why I was
initially interested in checking out the Knight.
