Some numb-nuts, slack-jawed, dumb-shit, mother-farker stole two of my
Rider's manuals that I had stashed along the curb. If you know who
came home with Rider's XX and III today, post it here so we can all
stay away from this vermin.

If they were sitting on the curb, I probably would've taken them
thinking someone was throwing them away.

I know Riders aren't worth what they used to be, but only a self-
serving putz would think they were free.

I agree with the above - stuff sitting by the curb means "free, take me" -
in fact, I dispose of a lot of stuff that way. if you don't want them
taken, don't put them on the curb - put them on your porch or something

Mpfff.... One hopes this is in humor.

Anything left at the curb is by definition 'kicked to the curb',
wasted, done, trash. Please take me.

If serious, I think the actual numbness here is between the OP's
ears.

Troll post. Do not reply.

The only thing anyone stashes on the curb is garbage, as we all know.

I don't know. I've come across some interesting things that I have left,
because they seemed too good to be in the garbage. The only way I could
explain it was that they weren't waiting for the garbage, so I left it.

On the other hand, July 1st is a big moving day and a couple of times I've
found interesting things that I've taken, and then wondered if they were
really put out as garbage or just waiting for the next trip with the car.
It's stuff off people's property and nobody around, but I neither want to
take things people are keeping, nor want to leave things that I want which
are up for grabs.

If this was on a residential street, yes.

But this was at the radio swap, where people often set down some items because they
have to make a second trip to carry them all to their car. It should have been
obvious to anyone there that these were not unwanted pieces of trash. If someone
thought they were recklessly abandoned, they should have been turned in to the local
club sponsors for safekeeping rather than taken home as "freebies" by some
unscrupulous person.

At Jamestown, the curb is a place to set up your wares, or a place to
hide your purchases till you leave. That's pretty standard there.
Whoever took them knew he was getting a GREAT deal. Ken

Then it's a seriously flawed idea. I go to a meet, and get stuff, I put
it in my vehicle, and it's locked. Then there is no question of the
offense if someone takes it.

In my neighborhood, and it is a nice one, anything in the strip between
the sidewalk and the road is a "Take me please" item. When I first moved
in the XYL had a plastic bag with some flowers to plant that she left
there while she went in the shed to get a shovel. When she got back, the
bag and plants were gone. It was the riffraff weekend, and don't even
think of that.
