Hi all,
I spotted these interesting items at a pinball show, The York Show,
in 2007 at in York, PA.
http://www.pingeek.com/york2007/york07_109.jpg

I thought the seller said something about this stuff being telegraph
equipment used during World War II? Can't remember for sure.

Can anyone tell me what this stuff is, and approximate year, and
manufacturer?
I'm guessing the top part of the three items might be some type of
short wave radio?

Thanks,
Josh

Josh,

I believe that the unit on the top is either a BC-312 or BC-342 WWII
Army receiver, covering 1.5 to 18 MHz.

The bottom unit is some sort of WWII tape perforator and reader -- I'm
not familiar enough with that type of equipment to tell whether it is
used for sending and receiving Morse code or teletype.

I bounced your message over to the greenkeys mailing list.
Perhpas one of the resident teletype experts over there will
recognize the tape stuff.

Yes, the top unit is indeed a BC-312 or 342. The bottom unit looks like
a TG-34 keyer for Morse code; the middle unit unknown to me but looks
like it is related to the TG-34. Neither are TTY units.

Ahh, one of these then:

I don't think it's a TG-34. The TG-34 combined a tape reader (inked
rather than punched) with a built-in audio oscillator for code
instruction. I remember seeing/hearing one in operation either in high
school or college.

Here are a couple of pages with pictures:

Thanks all for the information. I thought the seller said it was some
sort of WWII, but couldn't remember the details for sure. This helps a
lot.

Thanks!

Yes, I've also seen/played with a TG-34 in college -- and now that you
show the pictures of the TG-34, it seems similar but not exact.

As the past proud owner and user of Model 14s, 15s, 19s, 28s and 32s, it
doesn't look like any TTY Corp. gear I am familiar with.
