One of the annoying thins is how he gets credited with more than he
accomplished.

The March issue of Popular Mechanics arrived today, and he gets mentioned
in a history of the magazine. It quotes him talking about putting
together Heathkits as a kid (I never read that before, but I've not read
recent books) and then mentions how he and Steve Wozniak "modified the
Altair 8800". They didn't, but it's always been clear that Steve Wozniak
was the technically minded of the pair. There'd have been no company
without Steve Jobs, but not product without Steve Wozniak. But there's a
constant garbling, making Steve Jobs technically capable, when he's more
like the kid in high school who bought digital clock kits because he liked
building cabinets for them. It's Steve Wozniak who built the blue boxes,
streamlined the Atari game to eliminate ICs (so Steve Jobs could get a
bonus), designed the Apple I and II. But the garbling comes because Steve
Jobs is the one the public knows.

That's like a book I saw years ago that claimed that the Commodore 64
used the 8088 processor. There are still too many idiots writing about
subjects they don't know anything about. The early computer book
publishing business was full of get rich quick idiots who wrote
absolutely useless garbage. The publishers didn't care as long as they
would have a long list of 'computer books' for sale.

Ten years earlier, Jobs would have been selling used cars on late
night television. Steve Wozniak would have still been in electronics,
doing design work of some type.
