I just bought a pair of Jensens on eBay. They have the same model cabinets
that my Dad's HiFi had back in the 50s. (Big nostalgia here.) In spite of
having a single non-coaxial 12 inch driver, they seem to have a good high
end (at least to my 60 year old ears). I would like to find more information
about these, Google is finding very little.

Type D Bass Reflex Cabinet

Single non-coaxial speaker - "P12 SH ST 127 CA4714 2" and "220810" on rim

Sticker on back of speaker says "Extended Range" and "Special Series"

Mfg Tag on back of Cabinet:

Walnut Model

RD-152

ST-161

List Price

$174.50

I found the cabinet and a similar speaker in Allied
Radio catalogues from the early 1950s. The cabinet was
available for either 12" or 15" speakers in Walnut finish. I
can't find the P-12 SH but there is a P-12 SX. This is an
"extended range" single cone speaker with responce to 10Khz
rated at 9 watts and voice coil impedance of 6 to 8 ohms.
All the speakers in the list have X as the second letter of
the prefix. The first letter seems to indicate power
handling capability, the S versions being the least.
In 1953 the speaker listed at $21.20 and net was $12.47
while the cabinet listed at $77.50 and net of $50.64. The
listings in this catalogue are not at all complete. Jensen
made high quality loudspeakers.
Since bass reflex cabinets must be matched to the
speaker its possible that the bass responce could be
improved by adjusting the tuning.
