I HAVE TRIED THE USO, VET. OF FOREIGN WARS, AMERICAN LEGION, AND THE
NATIONAL GUARD. THE P.O. WILL NOT ACCEPT A PACKAGE UNLESS IT IS
ADDRESSED TO AN INDIVIDUAL WITH AN ADDRESS.

Bill - my daughter is in Afganistan now, but returning next month. I could
probably get the name of someone staying there. What do you want to send?

Jeff

A friend of mine regularly does the same with a chap in Afghanistan.
I'm sure I could round up a name for you if Jeff's daughter doesn't pan out.

Here is (part of) my daughter's reply via email:

"I would definately NOT post the name of a specific person or address in a
public forum, but that person or group can register at AnySoldier.com and
get matched up with a group or person that way. Remember that bad guys will
look for info on specific units on any platform they can get access to."

So that's the story. Apparently AnySoldier.com is the way to go.

That, or make a donation to 'Operation Shoebox'

http://www.operationshoebox.com which has been sending packages to
our military personnel stationed overseas since 2003. All work is done
by volunteers, so any donation goes directly to postage and whatever
they need to buy. They get requests directly from the military personnel
and try to supply their requests rather than send things they can't use,
or already have.

I have visited them many times and support it, myself.
