Need a WECO 358A plug (on or off a cable assembly), or
a WECO 358A to BNC, TNC etc. type RF fitting.
Needed for my HP-3666B sweep/level generator which has
75-ohm TELCOM roots. Don't want to butcher existing
panel fittings to "make it work" at this point.

I'm probably not the only one who isn't familiar with a WE 358A plug.
Google didn't help on a quick search.

Got lots of odd stuff here...can you give a photo reference?

I'm not sure if this connector has another designation, but Pasternack
Enterprises has had any adapter I've ever needed.

I could, but be aware there are SEVERAL WECO styles that appear to be
similar,
but won't mate without damaging the fittings. These were used on TELCO 75
ohm
test sets. There are other styles for 600, 125 ohm, etc. outputs. Bill,
I'll send ya
a photo once your aircard is back up.

NADA in the Pasternack catalog Robert.

Go ahead and send, Pete. I'm in the 'DX' mode and still have access via
Roaming. Slow, but better than dialup.

That's not 2 dollars each, I'd have to buy nine more than I'd ever need!
The 3336A is going out of lock, so it may end up being sold as a parts unit
regardless. Looks like HP never produced the final service manual for the
unit.

Pete, it is a "Buy it Now" or "Make Offer" offering so you can make an
offer of say $4.00 and then you can add "for only one" in the area where
you can place "additional terms". It is common practice to do things
like this when there is a "Make Offer" option. That is why they give you
an "additional terms" area to type in.

If nothing else, purchase them all, use one, and put the balance back on
e-Bay.

OTOH, what do I know....I still think that they are $2.00 each as is.

Those are 50 ohms. BTW, some TV stations used to use those for video
patch panels. (75 ohm) A local station might have a box of them in a
closet. I have a HP video waveform monitor that use the same
connectors. In some instruments you can remove the WECO connector and
replace it with a BNC bulkhead adapter without any soldering or damage
to the equipment. i found the WECO to BNC adapter at a surplus store for
a few dollars, about 10 years ago. I only have the one. No spares, or I
would send you one.

I downloaded all of the manuals long before you suggested doing so.
Do you realize that not all of the board revisions are covered in those
manuals??? Mine aren't.

Do you realize that most HP manuals include extensive troubleshooting
sections with flow charts to isolate problems down to component level?
Did you see them in ANY of the 3336A/B/C manuals that are online??

Do you read the notice inside the FINAL manual listed on the Agilent
site that had a comment that HP was working on the
final service information for future delivery???

NO, I don't call those schematics and parts lists flow charts. Geezus.

Sure they do. they cover ever possible fault, too. They list mostly
what they had to troubleshoot on the production line, on new equipment.
For the most part they are worthless, unless you can't think for
yourself.

is the final version, like it, or not. If it's not what you need, then
give up. You won't be able to do the repair. Either ship it to a good
metrology lab or buy something else. You are in way over your head.

> NO, I don't call those schematics and parts lists flow charts. Geezus.

Sorry, but I didn't realize you weren't able to troubleshoot
electronics on your own. I never mentioned flow charts and you didn't,
until now. I've repaired equipment that make that look like a toy,
without any flow charts. Some was repaired without a manual, by
following the logic of the design. that's why I had dozens of IC
databooks by my bench, and a broadband connection to the internet to
find other datasheets.

I troubleshot a lot of HP gear that vintage without flow charts or
pages of yes/no charts. Some of it was more than the old man in the
metrology lab could handle, and he would ask for help.

Maybe you should take up basket weaving? It will be less stressful,
and you can burn the bad ones so you don't get depressed.

Well no shit Michael!! I came to that conclusion after posting and long
before you realized you fucked up. Why shouldn't I avail myself to
additional info that might be available?

By the way...

Where did you ship the HP 3325A that you admitted you couldn't fix some
time back on another newsgroup? I believe the documentation for the
HP 3325A is rather extensive, right down to signiture analysis info for
the ROMs. Should I post a few URL links to those posts? Short memory

Yawn. If HP calls the file FINAL, what makes you think there is
anything else? That was built at a time when HP's documentation was
less than optimal. The only fuck up is you, and your need for someone to
hold your hand to do typical repairs.

My name is MICHAEL. PLEASE show 'a few URL links' to me. All I can
find is a statement that I used one to work on telemetry equipment on
the production floor at the Ocala Microdyne plant. The only problem we
had with our half dozen 3325 A & 3325B was failing relays in the DC
offset circuit, or step attenuators. The metrology lab had no problems
repairing them, and the old man wouldn't know what to do with signature
analysis, let alone a logic analyzer. We had several logic analyzers
that sat in the corner of engineering, covered with dust. We also had
an in circuit emulator that was used a couple times in my four years at
that plant.

To save you some time, here are the Google groups hits on this group
for 3325:

Are you really this stupid?

I referenced the page in that material that noted they (HP) expected
to release further information; and to send in the "pink card" to receive
a copy when it was released. So, you also have a reading and
comprehension problem in addition to your other "issues"? I never
said there was additional information, but I prudently inquired if anyone
was aware of the promised subsequent release being made. Far
stretch on your part Micheal.

BTW:

My HP 8165 predates the 3336, and the documentation was entirely
adequate. The build time has nothing to do with the completeness of
the manuals.

Been there... The 3336 uses the same VCO board as the 3325, hence my
only interest in the device plus your other humerous posts in the science
newsgroup. I liked the one where you admitted to having to change

others
you blew up in the process while proving your macho seat of the pants

Assume all you want. You know nothing of my skills, or the fact that
I caught hell quite often for not shot gunning a repair. I did failure
analysis and wrote ECOs to remove problems from designs. Only knuckle
dragging clowns would term that 'macho seat of the pants troubleshooting
abilities".

Show me where I worked on a 3325. You snipped all links to the HP
3325 in the Google Groups archives, because you are wrong and keep
changing your lies.

Then show me where no one ever finds more than one bad IC in a
complex instrument. A failed IC can damage the ones driving it, and was
common in TTL designs.

Power supply failures can take out a couple. or hundreds of ICs.
They have been know to set a piece of equipment on fire, like the Merlin
phone system that caught fire one night at Microdyne. The engineering
department and most of the other offices were severely smoke damaged.
It was already scheduled to be replaced, since several features weren't
Y2K compliant, but it decided to go, a few months early. The place was
a stinking mess for over three months. The fire department destroyed a
lot of doors to rooms that weren't on fire, as well.

We had a $20,000 radio in the burn in chambers catch fire when the
'Distribution board' caught fire. I was connected to the MC68340 based
embedded controller, the four power supplies and distributed power and
control signals to every other module or board in the Microdyne 700 or
1620 series Telemetry equipment. It did about $3,000 worth of damage
and was traced to a manufacturing defect in the PCB

No, it wasn't. Final test put the radios in the burn in chambers. If
you knew anything about manufacturing instead of trolling, you would
know that. The PCB house accepted responsibility and we found several
other defective boards in inventory that were scrapped, rather than risk
starting a fire at a government complex like NASA or NOAA.

> No wonder you're unemployed.

I am not 'unemployed'. The VA declared me 100% disabled and stated
that I will never be able to work again. To be exact, it was exactly two
weeks from the filing date. I was forced to file at that time, or lose
any chance of ever getting disability or Social Security. I had hoped it
would make them mad enough to take care of my health problems, but they
threw in the towel, just like you have on your toy.

I apologize to the group for allowing myself to be drawn into an
argument with this character. I will not bother to answer his ravings
after this. I should have just kill filled him when he first turned
nasty. His inability to spend $10 for five plugs that usually cost $20

Major rant:

Why would I buy five obscure plugs when I was looking
for one to test with? The unit will be eventually fitted with a
BNC and the attenuator will be converted from 75 ohms to
52 ohms. D'oh. If I choose not to waste 20 dollars on
five items, what concern is it of yours? The correct answer
is NONE. BTW, a gent is providing a used one, gratis.
I will reimburse him for his time and postage,
asked for or not....

Here's the truth:

You went ballistic because someone dared question
the almighty GOD Terrell. You're "help" was posting
obvious links when I only asked if HP had eventually
provided the service data they had indicated they would
be providing in the future. You didn't know the answer,
and you should have shut up there and them.

That simple, and you fucked it up with your superior knowledge
of the irrevalent. You're precious little ego was bruised, and
your defense was to become insulting, demeaning and
abrassive. You are that insecure.

Well guess what Micheal?

You ain't god's gift to the newsgroup.

You're advice is more useless than useful. You are more
useless than useful. You are mean, miserable, callous
and extremely nasty person with an obvious hatred for
everyone around you. I suspect you live alone, and
that even your cat has long abandoned you.

You would do well not to carry this baggage into a public
forum.

Don't be surprised to find someone that will stand up to your
bullying and "patriotic" dickwaving. I think Xray addressed
those issues. No one gives a fuck about
your constant braggart byline (AFRS wasn't it?) the fact you're
unemployed and sponging off tax payers, and whatever you
supposedly did for the short period whenever you were
allegedly gainfully employed... and the endless warstories
of your past glory days at Microdyne. I pity your former
coworkers.

Get a job, suck it up, and be a man for once.

I never had an issue with you in the past; and I never would
have expected this of you. You're the ass who started with
the rude insults and snide comments.

None-the-less, I will NOT abide by your bullying and
insinuations regarding my abilities either. If you wish to
play that way, expect the same callous treatment
in return.

You owe everyone an apology, including me.

And, btw, the 3336B will be properly repaired long before you do
anything of use for your country, your community, or yourself.

have a nice, lonely existence.
