Hi, I have a 1950's Weathers Industries console speaker system. 3 piece still in original boxes although main speaker shows wear to the top of the cabinet it has been in a box since the late 60's. Blonde wood all stand 30" main system speaker is about 26" x 32" 2 sides about 26" x 12. Does anyone know the approximate value of the system? I know it was very expensive when purchased in the 50's. Thanks Anita

This was probably the first consumer satellites-plus-woofer system. It
probably would not have been very expensive, because Weathers was a genius at
doing things well at low cost.

If you could post pictures...

Omigod, I remember these! I feel so friggin' old . . . Here in Louisville,
back in the late fifties, the local hifi salons would sponsor a weekend
equipment fair at a prominent hotel. I will always be grateful to my Dad who
would take me to them. Turntables, vacuum toobs, horn speakers, oh my!

Hi, I downloaded the photo's to my computer but cannot figure out how to post them to the group. I took the speakers out of the boxes and realized although they all are matching cabinets the two side speakers are KLH. and seem newer than the Weathers speaker. can I send you the photo's directly?

I don't know whether there's a binary group for RAR.

That pretty much destroys their collectivity.

I'm sending my address in separate e-mail.

Based on the photos...

The "satellite" speakers are KLH Model Sixes. They were a popular speaker, and
have no particular value.

The Weathers appears to be a woofer. I'm unfamiliar with it. I'd always
thought the woofer for the Weathers satellite system was a fairly small box
that slipped under the sofa, but I could be wrong.

Ms Fennety, if you could send a photo of the woofer's back panel, I could
perhaps get a handle on this.

It turns out that the "middle" speaker is not a woofer, but a full-range
system, the Weathers Decorator.

Ms Fennerty stumbled across it in the January, 1958 issue of "High Fidelity".

Those who are interested might wish to go to www.vintagevacuumaudio.com and
browse their collection of Audio, High Fidelity, and Stereo Review from 1952
to 1962.

Need I say that, in that era, "music" meant "classical music".
