Now you can start a disease therapy group as you have a scientific trend.
I showed the listing to my wife, and mentioned that it was 200 miles
away. She said I should go buy it because it looked cool.
No, I'm not kidding. *sigh* The woman has no taste. Probably why she
married me.
Seems like a handsome enough cabinet despite the mediocre guts. I'd
offer twenty bucks but I've had enough of painted cabinets for about
the rest of my life.......

I recapped a 41-285 like that one and found it an AMAZING performer.
Collectors (I used to be one of them) frown on '39-42 sets due to their
"oh my God, TV is coming, why bother!" Tinker Toy pie pan chassis build
quality. Unfortunately in 1935 the evidentially didn't know squat about
lead dress, oscillator design, etc. for shortwave ("throw a 6A8G in
there, we have lots...."). These later twin triode Philco front ends are
legendary among Caribbean DX'ers IIRC.

they ruined it!
even those who refinish their radios
generally destroy them in the process
as you can *always* tell they have been re-done.
all i do is get one of those almond sticks...
they darken the bad scratches but it's impossible to tell
that anything was done
Like this one?

Then your monitor is faulty. You can't see how blotchy the top is, the mismatched
toning, and the ring of crud on the front 1/2 inch up from the bottom?

What toning?
I think it looks like a square pumpkin.

Maybe his monitor needs caps. A couple WE tubes maybe.
Seriously, does that set play? You can cure the mumps later.
It's oranger than a '39 Philco console in direct sunlight!
