antique oil painting = 17th cen.

oil painting of old gentleman , on board,about 8x10, i have taken it to
the Walters art galley here in maryland and was told that it was painted
in the 1600's of a man that might have been a money changer, there is
faint writing hard to read across top of painting, sometime during the
400 years some one has put somekind of shellic or other substance on it
to preserve it, very good looking painting of old man dressed in
clothing of that period.if interested i can send a picture ,by mail ,
unable to send picture with web t.v that i am using ,asking price is
$1200 dollars---i have no idea as to the value of the painting---Walters
art galley will only give info about items no value,can not see that it
is signed , but i am sure writing across top of picture , would tell
the story about it .,
