Bush couldn't even serve out his time in the Texas Air
National Guard without going AWOL. Cheney had 5 draft
deferments from Viet Nam. Rumsfeld was a Navy pilot during
peace time and never saw any combat. John Ashcroft never
served in the military nor did Ari Fleischer or any of the
other hawks in this administration. Powell is the sole hawk
with military experience. Not only that but none of them
have any children who are currently serving or risking their
lives in this conflict.

An anonymous anklebiter calling itself Chaka <mcdo...@pcisys.net>
recently wrote these words:

Now that you have cross posted this drivel to all these newsgroups, I
suppose you will share your personal military decorations, along with
the active duty status of all your children, cousins, wives and
mistresses - living or buried at Arlington.

Or maybe I misunderstood. Maybe you think a draft deferment is
dishonorable, or that failing to get called to active duty is a
permanent blot on a person's character? If that's not it, maybe it is
the implication that any prior bad deed totally disqualifies a person
from leadership positions?

Supposing for a moment that you'd like readers to take some action on
the basis of your whining, what exactly would you like us to do?
Write in "Chaka" on the next Presidential ballot? Volunteer as
suicide bombers? Run for Congress?

Whatever it was you intended, my personal inclination is to just puke.
After that, I'd be willing to donate to a fund to buy you a one-way
ticket to a country of your choice.

I cannot believe people seriously think there is an invisible man in the sky who will answer their pathetic supplications if only they blub hard enough and get others to do the same.

I stopped believing in invisible men when I was 11, what is wrong with these people?

Don't get me wrong, in the deep, dark recesses of my mind, I know that there are people who believe this shit - but it never seems to lessen my sense of shock when actually confronted with it.

I am an army veteran. I was drafted in 1969 and served one year in Viet
Nam with the 101st Airborne Infantry. I have a Purple Heart a Bronze Star
and a few other lesser medals. My kids are too young to serve. My
brother served in the US Navy for 4 years during peace time.

Thanks but no thanks. I don't care much for politicians, especially the
my-way-or-the-highway kind.

I'm a patriotic American and support our troops 100%. I don't plan on
leaving. But in my humble opinion this is the wrong war for the wrong
reasons. There are too many ulterior motives and way too much arrogance.
I didn't intend anything other than to exercise my right of free speech by
contributing to this thread with what I think is a bit of interesting
background on our administration's most vocal hawks. (Oh by the way,
neither Rush Limbaugh nor George Will served in the military.)

Best regards,
Chaka

Can ANYONE answer this question? I will if anyone wants to know.
The true danger is here at home, the administration is who we need to
watch. We watch the war on tv and don't even know what is going on
here in our very backyard. Our beloved country is being sold to the
EU and the WTO. If you were to tell anyone about this they would say
that you are fucked-up and don't have a clue.
I say we better all get a clue. I for one do not want my son or
daughter living or growing up in a country RUN and REGULATED by the
FUCKING EU.

You are fucked-up and don't have a clue!

PS - I do agree we need to keep an eye on the administration however.

Nor did DeLay,Gramm or Gimgrich serve.Which is hypocritical after they
spent years whihing about how Clinton supposedly dodged the draft.
