So McCain promises what "all Americans" still want: A real enemy,
Russia!
This could be the "October surprise" the Republicans were hoping for!
And it was triggered by Bush!

The President has just made what is, to my ears, a VERY strong response to the Russian invasion of Georgia.
According to his statement:
"Humanitarian" aid is in transit right now, being delivered by the U.S. military. Russia has been admonished to allow this "aid" to come through "all roads, ports and air space."
Condi Rice is going to go immediately to the capital of Georgia to meet with its president.
Russian participation in G8 and similar institutions is in jeopardy unless it immediately withdraws all forces and respects the democratic government of Georgia.
I am no expert, but have been following this very closely, and this seems to me to be at the top end of possible U.S. responses. It might be noted that Russia has lied repeatedly about its military intentions, which is typical I suppose of ongoing military actions in whatever context ... and the U.S. could also be assumed (I believe) to be preparing for a variety of scenarios in its plan to bring military forces into Georgia, even though the initial statement is that the forces are there for humanitarian purposes.
