Reality Group on LinkedIn

There is now a growing Reality Group on LinkedIn. For those of you who
are unaware of LinkedIn, LinkedIn is a business-oriented social

What's the purpose of the LinkedIn group? This Google Group is a
forum for product discussions. Is the LinkedIn group for people
to exchange contact info? I'm not registered in LinkedIn for any
purpose. I've always seen it as just another way for unknown
people to get my contact info and send me stuff I don't want.
That opinion is open for review.

The Reality Group on LinkedIn is just another way for us to promote
Reality and to foster discussion with as many people as we can. We
also promote the Reality Google forum on the LinkedIn group as well as
the Reality website. LinkedIn is just another tool like Twitter or
Facebook, MySpace, etc.

Fair enough. I guess I'm just being curmudgeonly. :) It's not
like there is a lot of volume here, but I'd hate to see people
posting questions and answers in different repositories which
aren't used by some people, or for people to have to register at
a bunch of repositories just to have a complete view of what's
happening with Reality. Fragmenting a small community is almost
as bad as not fostering any community at all.

This is more of a discussion group whereas LinkedIn is a professiona/
business networking environment. Sure, there could be crossover, but
the purpose of each are different. Posts on LinkedIn are not
necessarily public.
