Hello all,
On Tuesday 5th Feb, Cassie Earl is coming to London to interview me about her research into education. She is particularly interested in those who have experienced any form of learning through Occupy, or related activities. See below for her spec.
She has asked me if I can arrange for others to speak to her as well. Don't be put off by the academic nature of her words, she's very down to earth, and I think that learning for all of us has been both direct and indirect. I know she'd be really pleased to speak to anyone who has 'learned' these last eighteen months, and to hear how that has happened for you.
If you're about on Tuesday, and would be willing to have a chat, please do let me know.

Occupy is one of the sites (the main focus of my PhD is Occupy) of education/pedagogy that is possibly creating something against the current dominant ideologies. I am looking at the kinds of education that come from collective deliberation, education that interrupts the dominant ideologies and views of education and its purposes – this includes new forms of thinking about research, utopian pedagogy/education, political awakening through dialectic processes, etc. This means that anyone who has experienced any form of ‘learning’, in their interaction with Occupy and its activities is of interest to the research, whether that learning was activities provided explicitly for education, or just as a result of being involved in the camp or associated activities of Occupy has something interesting to add to the research.
I am keen to ensure that as many voices are included in the project as possible, the research will aim to challenge the dominant ideas about the nature and aims of education in general and build from people’s experience and literature on forms of political education and critical pedagogies an alternative philosophy of education.
