Hey,

What's the status of the logo?  I know in our phone call we discussed the possibility of a contest possibly hosted on wikiHow to design it with people on this list also being encouraged to design one.  And then a vote.  As we likely need it done a bit earlier if we're doing t-shirts, I was wondering if that was moving forward?  Or are we going to go with last year's logo?

Sincerely,
Laura Hale

Following up with my own post...

Did Steven go ahead with that one organization to get them design the
logo? Are we using last year's logo? Or is some one on the list
making a new logo?

Sincerely,

Hello all

I just joined this group because I am considering attending RCC09, and this is my first post. Saw the post on logo, so I did several draft designs. If anyone likes them, I can work on this further. If not, that's OK, too. Cheers

If working on the logo is still open, I'd love to help out. I'll do
some sketches as I'm out and about today.

Here's a few preliminary sketches. Does any of this say RCC to you? If
you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

The following are just tinyruled links to the files in the RCC group's
Files. If you don't feel like clicking the links, take a look at them
over there.

Cool! I linked to them from <http://2009rcc.org/Logo>. Curious how
they would look WikiCaps rather than ALLCAPS?

The sign ones were totally fun. However, I love the tent theme we have been running with previous years, so I was jazzed to see the one in the upper left of this page:
First page: http://tinyurl.com/dlpnpd

I liked the fire/lightbulb elements, but I didn't see one that worked well with the tent.

This is great! Thanks for the logo sketches!

Hey, great work on these sketches!

I'm not going to embarrass myself by attempting to mock it up, but it occurred to me we could combine the sign idea with the tent idea if we made a campground sign that looked something like this:

A lot of those have small mileage markers on them (eg .09 miles), and we could use that idea to represent the `09.

Great ideas. Combining the 'signage' design with the 'tent' icon (apparently this is the universal campground icon) ... check out the new designs #4 and #5. I personally like #4.

ooh, nice.

Digging brevity, I think the tent makes "camp" superfluous.  Maybe "`09" instead?

jeff, can you upload those to the rcc wiki?

Sure thing. I've got some new iterations to upload as well. I'll stick
'em all up at once when I get home tonight.

So, here's the new iterations. Basically a couple smoke studies and
various tents. I really like the idea of a tent representing the camp:
protective and synthesized, but facilitating the interaction between a
human removed from nature with the environment.

First: http://tinyurl.com/atrhdo
Second: http://tinyurl.com/ct2at6
Third: http://tinyurl.com/be3dlq
Fourth: http://tinyurl.com/desc2j
Fifth (this one portrays transformation: entering camp ignorant,
exiting enlightened): http://tinyurl.com/c2pes7
Sixth: http://tinyurl.com/bldayw
Last: http://tinyurl.com/cywub2

Now, off to the rcc wiki to upload them there as well.
Thanks again for the feedback!

Huh, I seem to have crashed the wiki page. Perhaps I should have read
the documentation first.
If anyone else would like to upload these files, feel free. In the
mean time, I'm going to read documentation and discover what I did to
break it.

Hmm, I'm not clear on exactly what happened there, Jeff, but I think it had something to do with the super long url.  At any rate, the Logo card is working now.

Instead of linking to the google group images (which adds two links to click) from the wiki page, would you mind uploading the images to the wiki itself?

To to that, you just go here:

It will prompt you to give each image card a name.  Once it's uploaded, you can include the image on any other card like this:

{{image name}}

Feel free to ping me if you need any more help.

Ah ha! Thanks for your help Ethan.
The scans are all up now. Sorry about the breakage.
