2027 Production Schedule (Lugged Clem? YelloWolley In Different Shades?)

Has anyone seen the production schedule for 2027? It looks like they're releasing a lugged Clem, not sure if step through or Clem H. Also, the YelloWolley is listed twice in it's release, I'm speculating that there might be different shades of yellow for this frame?

A lugged Clem, huh? I wonder why. I get that they have a lugged Roadini because they no longer have lugged production road bikes (like the Roadeo), but the big appeal of the Clem is its (relative) affordability albeit with lugged seat tube cluster and fork crown. 

I feel like it's almost gilding the lily of a bike that has a proven track record in Riv's lineup. But what do I know? I guess I could see them testing the waters with a limited production run and getting up-front $$ commitments from  buyers as they've done in the past. My .002 of course.

I would prefer they go the other way and do whatever they can to push the cost down. To me a low budget great bike is what the Clem was meant to be.

Maybe.., just maybe the dream of a low cost Riv has been abandoned? The YelloWolleY looks a good value but it ain’t inexpensive. I love my Clem & don’t mind it being tigged but they too have gotten more expensive. Riv’s are expensive, they may as well be beautiful? And a lugged Clem sounds beautiful! And it’s going to have a new size too? Oh my.

I can see a lugged Clem filling the step through fat tired slot the lugged susie was in. I for one have a Vince’s Blue 55.5 Clem in my sights for some of the listed reasons, and my mind isn’t changed by the fact lugged ones will be out next year(though I bet they’ll be sooo cool!)

I also see why the Yellowolley might be the one tigged “affordable” since it lands more centrally in their lineup than the Clem.

I woo guess Yellowey is still just one color they probably either formatted it that way to illustrate that there are more available since it’s a single color or it was just easier from a copy/paste standpoint

There's another anomaly in the new production schedule list: The YelloWolleY with delivery scheduled for this month now indicates Completes and Framesets. This is almost certainly a cut-and-paste error since those bikes are literally on the way without a word about framesets.

The lugged Clem definitely threw my wishlist off when I saw that production chart posted. I was all set on the upcoming Clem. I’m not sure now. But, another thing that I saw was how the new 50cm Clem has the same ETT, stack, and reach as the older 52cm Clem. The recommended PBH’s, however, went from 74-88 on the 52 to 74-82 on the 50. With a 83cm PBH myself, I suppose I’ll be sizing down for this one. Or the next one. I’ll figure that out soon, hopefully.

I also have an 83 PBH, and personally would feel confident in the 52cm Clem size. Genuinely curious about what makes you feel like being just outside the size range of the 50 would be the move?

I too wonder if the lugged clem indicates a shift towards more of a trail bike to fill the void left by the discontinuation of the Gus/Susie. With the yellowey filling the *more* affordable complete slot, and Riv mentioning at one point '2.6" tire rivs will be back', I certainly think it's a possibility.

1. I want a new Clem, not a used one.
Well, that’s about the only reason, really.
Maybe 2. With a higher seatpost I could get a nice large saddle bag.

I really wish I'd been able to jump on a Homer when they were offering the dark green. What a good looking bike! These days, I think a lugged Roadini is where I'll likely end up, although a Homer is extremely tempting too. I just need to NOT have another out of the blue unexpected many thousand dollar expense present itself again!

I could definitely get behind a more trail-focused Clem! My current one will fit true 2.6" tires, and the ground clearance is better with 165mm cranks, but I would be head-over-heels for a Clem with at least an extra 10mm of BB height and a sliver more mud clearance in the back...

Relative to the Clem (64):

the XL Fillet Susie had an extra ~10mm of BB height

the XL Lugged Susie had an extra ~5mm of BB height

Even those are still pretty low for pedaling through rocky/rooty trails (ask my pedals how I know!), but I feel like 10mm is probably the most I can hope for :)

Homers in dark gold were available in the past! I had my heart set on a dark gold Homer but missed the original sale and couldn’t find one used. I eventually settled for a blue Homer last year and have 0 regrets; Homer blue is a stunning color, especially in person.

I don't think I've ever seen Homers in a color I didn't like. I've seen a couple Waterford era ones in a really good looking copper color. The dark gold will be great - I just wish I hadn't missed on the dark green ones.

I know the talk of cost has been mentioned on these bikes, but has anyone considered that the cost of things have gone up and that this is the result? I have not dug into the cost in comparison to other bicycle companies past and present cost for bike models. As for the possible "Lugged" Clem Smith Jr, I maybe on board with it. Wish I had gotten a Gus Boots-Wilson when it was available. The Clem I rode at Riv HQ was very nice. Almost tried to get a Gus when I saw one listed at an overseast Rivendell dealer and was in Asia last December.

Well, shoot.  I was pretty intrigued at the thought of a lugged clem.  Especially if it had a higher top tube like the Charlie Gallop.  I'm going to have to try hard to refrain from speculating I guess, and just wait for official news.

I think a pricier Clem with lugs makes it not a Clem anymore, a frame originally designed to be a new alternative to snagging an old TIG'd MTB off Craigslist and spending too much money trying to make it a decent city bike. I love my humble welded one-color step-through, Riv already makes fancier/pricier lugged frames.

I, too, would be interested in a lugged Clem. When I think Rivendell, I think lugged steel bicycles. That said, I love a Clem, currently own one, but have owned two over the years. It's a great bike. I usually have one bike set up for commuting and around-town riding (rides to work, dinner, drinks, shows, overnighters, and whatnot, the lock-it-up-wherever bike), and the Clem has had that duty for the most part. But I had a Joe frame sitting around without a purpose, and seeing as it's a "prettier" frame with the double top tubes and all them lugs, I swapped my Clem bits over to that frame, and it's now doing that job. I could see myself buying a lugged Clem to replace a couple of bikes. Think of a Clem with all the pretty lugs of a Platy; that would be a good look'n bike. 

On the other hand, I can see the "need" for a budget bike, but part of me also thinks that not every bicycle manufacturer is for everyone. There are plenty of quality budget bike brands out there, and if a lugged Riv is not in one's price range, it may not be the brand for them. I happily rode a Surly LHT for years without complaint. I don't mean to sound callous, but I'm not as attracted to the tig-welded Rivs personally, and, if I were running the company, I would lean into what they are known for: good-quality, simple, beautiful, lugged bicycles. I can't justify a new Range Rover, so I drive a 20-year-old Toyota. I don't feel any kind of way about folks who choose the Range Rover; it's just a different priority for them. They want a pretty SUV with all the bells and whistles, and when I drive, I drive a Surly...

Lugged Clem” is a contradiction in terms. It’s oxymoronic. It’s lipstick on a pig. Lest we forget there’s a guy crawling out of the sewer on Clem’s seat tube. It’s a bike for hoi polloi not highfalutin la-di-das. Mine can be seen Sundays in front of the laundromat not the latte cafe. Why make it a tougher bike to love/afford.

I agree, and it has nothing to do with my ability to pay for a nice lugged frame. If I want one (again) I'll do it, it just isn't a priority for me anymore. I love my Clem just as it is and hope this version of them remains available.

I agree that the Clem is great as is. But for folks who love the geo & ride feel of the Clem but would be happy to pay a bit more for a pretty lugged frame, I’d see the draw. I’m sure they could do tig welded and lugged versions of the same frame and offer them at different times. 

I also like that they offer more affordable options. That said, $2500 still ain’t cheap…that’s the cost of the yellow bike. Shipped to your house with CA taxes that’s nearly a $3k tig welded bike 

I also wouldn’t be surprised if “lugged Clem” wasn’t a typo on the page in the first place & will never happen. I’m sure we’re talking about this in vain. But if it did, I might just buy one.
