Speaking of Mt. Hamilton, are any Bay Area people doing the Low Key
Hill Climb Thanksgiving morning?

I should be there, assuming I wake up in time...

Can anyone just show up?

Yes. As stated in the link, "registration will open an hour before the
listed time, closing 15 minutes before. No pre-reg. $10 voluntary
donation."

I should add, in case it isn't clear from the map on the site, that
this ride is all-paved; it does not include the off-road stuff
showcased in the photos from last week's NorCal Riv Ride.

Wow! I'll do my best to show up. Don't know how far I'll be able to make it, but at least I've already set up my AHH with the 9 speed 11-34 cassette, still with the Sram Rival 34/50 crankset for now.

Do you know if there is any kind of support for this ride or should I plan to carry everything I might need regarding food and water?

You need to carry everything you need in order to make it to the top,
but once you arrive, as the website explains, "you can eat our array
of bananas, fruit drinks, etc and socialize with the folks at the
top".

Although some sections are steep, your 50/34 with 11-34 should be more
than enough. I did it last year with a 50/36 and 12-27.

Thanks Aaron!

The gears are only meaningful if you know the weight of the rider... especially on such a long climb. At 265 lbs, I need all the help I can get! :-D

I'm definitely considering it. Will try my new setup tomorrow; I also put Randonneur bars to try them out and see if my hands are more comfortable.

The good thing about this ride is you can always turn around and have a quick downhill ride back to the car!

I'll read the website info again so I don't ask so many questions that are already answered there... If you go, look for an AHH with black Sram Rival cranks...
