Subject: Self-Extracting Crank Bolts
Hi. With regard to the photo here:

www.flickr.com/photos/millhiser/2261973950

Angus asked,

<<What brand of self-extracting crank bolts are you using?  They
appear to have an 8mm allen head.  I have some with a 6mm allen head
and would prefer the 8s.>>

They are 8mm. They are Shimano (came with the Ultegra crankset;
Shimano calls it the "fixing bolt" in their instructions but fail to
supply a part number).

I imagine there are many different varieties. Some 8mm options are
here. http://harriscyclery.net/itemdetails.cfm?ID=2473

Hope this helps! :-)
Will

Will,

Thanks for the information.  The 6mm head on my current self-
extracting crank bolts is starting to deform when tightened to the
proper torque.  I'll see if my LBS can order me some.

Thanks!

Angus

I've got the FSA 8mm self-extracting crank bolts on my Sugino square
taper crank.  Ordered them from Harris Cyclery.
